Premier Celebrates Three Year Anniversary!
This April, Premier celebrates its three year anniversary of community engagement and promotion of prosperity throughout the Inland Empire! Since its beginning in 2014, Premier has been dedicated to connecting Inland Empire organizations and spreading awareness of trends in education, business, heath care and public policy. In the last three years, Premier has worked closely with the San Antonio Hospital Foundation in organizing their annual two day golf classic as well as a variety of foundation events. In February of this year, Premier was honored to be inducted into the Frances Mary Paul Circle for its contributions to the San Antonio Hospital Foundation.
Yvette Walker, founder and owner of Premier, currently sits on the City of Upland Planning Commission, has been a board member of The Upland Community Foundation since 2011, is the Executive Director of Programs for the Inland Empire Hispanic Leadership Council (IEHLC), and is in charge of public relations for the Upland Rotary Club. Premier has worked intricately with the IEHLC for the last three years from planning galas and events supported by Cardenas Markets as well coordinating the April 2016 Coca Cola reception, named Coca Cola Day in the City of Rancho Cucamonga, to attending the National Associations of Counties (NACo) Conference in Washington D.C this past March. Through these community outreach and public policy advocation opportunities, Premier has been actively engaged in the current events and trends throughout the Inland Empire.
Some of Premier’s other major projects have included the planning and execution of iFLY's Grand Opening in Ontario as well as working with the Ontario Fury Foundation to organize “Kids Take Over Citizens Business Bank” in 2014.

We have been blessed with amazing support and community within the last three years and look forward to the opportunities ahead!

UC Riverside Builds
Self-Sustaining Greenhouse

"We are improving the economics of greenhouses"
- Glenn Elers, Soliculture President

Solar pannel technology from UC Santa Cruz will fuel the design of the UC Riverside's construction.

This month we celebrate sustainable energy and environmental awareness with the coming of Earth Day! UC Riverside is embracing sustainability for the Inland Empire and is currently constructing an 800-square-foot greenhouse for their campus that will grow food and produce solar energy at the same time. As a large agricultural research facility, UC Riverside is planning to use the greenhouse as a research laboratory to explore the possibility and cost of solar energy production while growing food.

Ultimately, the goal is to generate the electricity needed for the greenhouse to run independently of any connection to the campus electricity network. This technology, developed by researchers at UC Santa Cruz, uses solar energy to more efficiently grow food while simultaneously giving power to the structure. The dark pink pannels developed by Soliculture have a parsing effect, using a portion of the spectrum to fuel the electricity while directing the rest to the plants inside. Essentially, UC Riverside is working toward improving the economics of greenhouses while exponentially increasing its yield.  The project is estimated to take about two months with a budget of $174,000.

Inland Empire Regional Composting Authority Receives Engineering Excellence Award

The Inland Empire Regional Composting Authority (IERCA) recently received an award from the California Water Environment Association (CWEA) for their excellence in Engineering Achievement. The composting center, located in Rancho Cucamonga, is the largest enclosed composting facility in the nation and produces approximately 230,000 cubic yards of compost per year. The IERCA focuses on producing economically efficient compost while promoting conservation and environmental protection. The IERCA recently implemented a new conveyor system that successfully utilized conservation principles while reducing cost and enhancing the safety of the composting process.

The award received recognized the environmental excellence that the team at IERCA has upheld since its opening in 2007.

"The IERCA is honored to receive this award,” said Jon Blickenstaff, IERCA Board Chairperson. “We continue to reach our goals by showing excellence and leadership in composting. This award is representative of this effort and highlights the 10 years of commitment on behalf of our team of employees and Board members.”
