SIOUXSIE GETS AN IVOR
On May 17th Siouxsie was awarded an IVOR at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London’s Park Lane to a standing ovation from a music industry crowd, the special inspiration award was presented to Siouxsie on stage by her close friend John Maybury and was preceeded by a 5 minute film about Siouxsie’s life and career from forming the Banshees with Steven Severin to recording as a solo artist and indeed recording a track for Mr Maybury’s film ‘The Edge Of Love’ in 2008.
The Ivors is an incredibly prestigious songwriting-based award ceremony that is now in its 57th year. Worth mentioning is that American songwriter Jimmy Webb was also honoured at the awards, he actually wrote MacArthur Park
, a song covered by Donna Summer who’s tragically early death was sadly and spookily announced straight after the awards.
