Cat Found Alive After Being Locked For 2
Months In Foreclosed Home

Please help poor Wyatt the cat. He's hanging on
to life by a thread and still may not make it.

King Soopers stores are located all over Colorado and
parts of Wyoming: Cheyenne, Casper and Rawlins.
If you do not have this store in your area, you can opt to

The former director of a supposed "no-kill"
animal shelter in Georgia was free on bond
Thursday after a grand jury indicted her for
allegedly charging owners not to euthanize
their pets and then killing them anyway.

In case you didn't see my Special Edition of the
Kitty Times last week, you can catch it here:

A quick update: The fleas are well under control now,
but I'm not sure I can rest until I'm sure they're gone.
The flea traps were empty this morning, so that's a good

One thing I forgot to mention in my 3-step procedure for
this problem (1. treat the animals, 2. treat the environment)
is No. 3. treat yourself.

If the fleas are in the carpet, chances are they may be
biting your ankles. If so, you can stop the itching with
vinegar. Spray it or dab it on.

Another thing I forgot to mention for No. 2, treating the
environment, is the use of a steam mop. After I vacuum, I
drag out the Shark Steam Mop. Don't buy it from the TV
commercial, where it costs more than $100. I got mine from
Walmart for $39. Other brands are fine, too. Whatever you
can manage. The steam helps kill the eggs as well as adult
fleas, though they can be very sturdy.

The best approach is to mount a multi-pronged attack.

If you know someone who has to choose between paying
the bills or feeding a pet, you may wish to tell them
about this new program: Pet Food Stamps!

A group of donors based in New York created a program
which distributes the food through, but only
to needy pet owners in the U.S.

Once the need is verified (applicants must fill out a
form online), petfood is shipped monthly for 6 months.

Apply at - but be patient; it can
take up to 6 weeks to get a response. Needless to say,
this program is overwhelmed with applications in these
difficult economic times.

Be sure to visit the site even if you don't need free
food. There is a beautiful little slide show!

Want to share a photo of your amazing dog or cat on
Freekibble or Freekibblekat?

Every day they will post a photo of a pet sent in
from people in the Freekibble Community, in a section
called, "What makes you happy?"

Want to share a photo of your pet? Here's how:

Show them what makes you happy... send the best picture
of your pet to - along with your
name, pet's name, city and state where you live.

Here's something new:

If your pet has already appeared in the What Makes You Happy
area, you might want to look at them again. Until now, that
has not been possible. But one of our readers, Andrea,
requested they make an archive available. And they did!
Here is what she said:

"Bert Look! In response to my request, free kibblekat now
has a link to their happy of the day archives. In little tiny
script just below the happy of the day picture it says archives
and it takes you to the Pinterest page they have set up as an
archive for every happy of the day ever posted! Pretty kewl! Now
I can see my submission for Sputters anytime and so can anyone
who got their cat's pic posted."

Note: Sputters just got his own website at
and is looking for Votes. Go here to cast a vote for Mr. Sputters:

What is a "catio?"

Thanks to Judy for this link!

Scottish Fold Cat Burglar!

Cats (and some dogs) climbing into small containers

Overly polite kitten

Thanks for these videos, Judy!

This video is a scream. The cat is very acrobatic and
uses the chair legs to scoot around under the table on
his back. I can't explain it. You just have to see it.

How to help the animals:

(Wyatt updates)

2. Always remember to check with your local shelter
to see what they need. Your donation will go directly
to the animals, in sharp contrast to some of the large
national groups, whose donation income goes toward
large administrative salaries and other expenses, not
necessarily for animals.

3. Buy my book if you haven't yet. Sales are used to
help support all the cats here. Thank you.
