East Coast Pilot News
May 2024

  Dear Subscriber

As usual we extend a warm welcome to all our subscribers, including those who have recently signed up to these very occasional newsletters. Apologies for the very long interval since the last one - time flew by while we were very busy researching a new edition!

And it's been published! The new 6th Edition of 'East Coast Pilot' is available now direct from Imrays, and from Chanderies etc in the coming days.

As with earlier editions, the entire book has been reviewed again, and we have personally revisited every venue (by boat when possible) and updated the text and venue information with the hundreds of changes found. The vast majority of photos used are new as well. Our publishers, Imrays, have excelled themselves with new layout ideas which give this edition a rather different look from its predecessors.

Updates to the 5th edition now stop, although those already published will remain on our website for a few months - but after that they will only be available on request.

We can also announce that the new chartlets for the Deben and Ore entrances have been published on our website. Surveys were badly delayed by the weather this year, but they got done eventually, and Imrays have as usual produced clear Trinity House approved chartlets from the new survey data.

In brief, the Deben entrance has changed significantly and arguably needs greater care this year, while the Ore remains similar to last year.

I'm sure that Garth and I will be out and about on the East Coast this summer, and we look forward to meeting up with you if our paths coincide with yours.

Wishing you a grand summer's boating -

 Kindest regards,
 Dick Holness
