Los Wembler’s, the legendary band from Iquitos, the capital of the Amazon in Peru.
The five Sanchez Brothers who make up the band are Amazonian Cumbia pioneers who played an essential part in launching the Chicha explosion of the 1970’s
 
The band, which wrote and recorded the classics “Sonido Amazonico” and “La danza del Petrolero” was anthologized on the Roots of Chicha compilations and has been covered by various bands such as Los Mirlos, Chicha Libre and Firewater and now with the most famous DJ Electro Tropical.
 
Los Wembler's never really stopped playing. Their shows have received huge audience success in Peru during the 1970's, the years of the Chicha mouvement. But it's only recently that Los Wemblers arises again interest for their music in Europe, thanks to the initiative of selective productors, programators and DJs. Los Wembler's are now crossing borders and will be finally recognized for the authentic talent as the famous pionneers of Amazonian Cumbia. Straight from Amazonia, Iquitos !!!

 

Los Wembler's de Iquitos released a new album (digital and Vinyl) at Barbès Records and a two-track remix made by the Meridian Brothers.
