Innovative Educational Excellence
Children, Inc. Early Learning Center at Erlanger-Elsmere Schools Receives 3 STARS
|
Recently, the team at our Early Learning Center at Erlanger-Elsmere Schools received the news that the program has been awarded 3 STARS through Kentucky's STARS for KIDS NOW rating system!
- More training and higher credentials for the center director and teachers
- More parent engagement opportunities
- Annual opportunity for parents to provide formal feedback about the program
- High quality, well-equipped classrooms
And more!
This Early Learning Center is also nationally accredited through the National Accreditation Commission for Early Care and Education Programs, and is open to children ages 1-5.
Another exciting aspect of the Early Learning Center at Erlanger-Elsmere Schools is the Blended Preschool model, which allows preschool children to attend the District’s Preschool for a 1/2 day program and remain with Children, Inc. for a full day of learning*. A Montessori option is also available for preschoolers!
There are currently just a few spots available in this program - contact Director Cassie Young at cyoung@childreninc.org or (859) 261-2181 to learn more.
*Priority enrollment is given to children who qualify for the District’s preschool program. Children who do not qualify for the District’s preschool program may enroll with Children, Inc.

Compassionate Family Support
Kentucky Gubernatorial Race Has Focus on Early Education and Family Success |
Last week, Northern Kentucky early childhood programs were the focus of a visit from Elizabeth Davenport Conway, wife of current Kentucky Attorney General and candidate for Governor Jack Conway.
The visit included a tour of Treasure House Child Development Center in Covington, Brighton Center’s new Scholar House program in Newport, Northern Kentucky Community Action Commission Early Head Start at its Eastside Neighborhood Early Childhood Education Center, and a stop at the Early Learning Center at Erlanger-Elsmere Schools to speak with Erlanger-Elsmere Schools Superintendent Kathy Burkhardt.
A glimpse into these programs gave Ms. Conway information about wraparound, multi-generational programs available to all families, partnerships that leverage and bolster existing resources, and quality classrooms that make a huge difference in the lives and learning of young children.
We are excited to see political figures at this level galvanized by early childhood issues, and appreciate Ms. Conway taking the time to learn about programs across the state. If Jack Conway is elected, she has chosen early childhood as her sole focus during his term. Early childhood truly is a bipartisan issue. Opportunities for young children to succeed affect so many other facets of a healthy, vibrant commonwealth.

Collective Community Leadership
Studio C Helps Nonprofits Discover What's Possible for the Region |
Throughout the past few months, Children, Inc.’s Design Thinking Team (comprised of Josh Hatton, Tess Hammons, Elizabeth Fricke, Heather Gerker, and Cassie Young) has been working with Design Impact, the United Way of Greater Cincinnati, and other area non-profits in a cutting-edge program called Studio C. The objective of the program is to help nonprofits solve complicated issues in a new, innovative way. After many months of hard work, the design thinking team has created a new way of engaging parents and increasing family contribution to the learning process.
Now it’s time to show off our hard work and possibly win some money! Come hear about the fantastic idea and help us win the grant at the finale on Monday, November 16, 2015 from 6:00pm-8:00pm at the Carnegie Art Center in Covington, Kentucky. Learn more and register for this free event here.
One team will receive a $20,000 implementation grant, and another team will receive a $5,000 audience choice grant, both from the United Way! Lastly, Design Impact will give away a 1/2 day Design Thinking training to a team. We would all love for Children, Inc. to be the big winner of the event so come support us and hear about the new activities being implemented at our Erlanger-Elsmere Early Learning Center.
Many thanks to United Way of Greater Cincinnati and Design Impact for presenting this opportunity to nonprofits across the region. Innovation leads to more impact in the community.
