![]() Croatia to join the euro in 2023, an EPP success
Brussels, 12 July 2022
As Croatia cleared the final hurdles and signed legal papers to adopt the euro on 1 January 2023, the President of the European People’s Party (EPP), Manfred WEBER said the following:
“Croatia, the youngest EU country, will become the twentieth country to adopt the euro. This is a historic day for Croatia, the eurozone and our political family. Much of the credit goes to Croatian Prime Minister Andrej PLENKOVIĆ and his government who spearheaded courageous reforms to strengthen the country’s economy. Joining the single currency will benefit Croatian people, Croatian businesses and make the eurozone stronger.
This is a concrete example of EPP leaders delivering for our citizens. No matter the position or level, EPP politicians provide stability and good economic governance, setting the conditions for European citizens and societies to flourish. Croatia’s joining the euro is a success for HDZ and a success for EPP.”
