Diane Rhodes of Monroeville, PA was a brave girl, fashioning her pieced Presto Purse with Soft & Stable instead of fusible fleece. I liked her results so much that I used much of it in a blog post. Here's a peek at the zippered back pocket & the front ID area looks.

This adorable Quattro was the brainchild of Sharon Cuddemi of Weare, NH. She accomplished the spectacular front with punch needle embroidery. Here's a closeup of the handwork!

And Katherine Gelpi has received all sorts of compliments on her embroidered Carolina CarryAll. She used one "Asian" designs by Anita Goodesign for the embellishment, and here's a peek at the equally beautiful purse back! The lining is also an asian- inspired design, China Vase by Michael Miller.

Gloria C of Portland, ME chose fabric from her stash to "test out" her Trifecta pattern. She LOVES the fact that all she has to do is unzip the center 'core' of this bag to have access to all her important credentials, yet they are totally safe and secure when the bag is closed!
Gloria says she plans on making another Trifecta real soon!

This classy denim Lollapalooza was crafted beautifully by Margo Clabo of Cleveland, TN.
She says that she adores carrying her new bag and enjoyed the whole process of making it as well!

And speaking of head turning...
this stunning Gadabout belongs to Pat Leask of Ontario, Canada. The embroidery designs are part of the 'Kashmir Elephant Design Pack' by Embroidery Library. She used a good quality black cotton and combined it with a light mauve interior to make it easier to find stuff inside.

And for the very first Baggalista to be entered in our monthly contest, we have this beauty by Diane Rhodes of Monroeville, PA.
Isn't it fantastic? and check out how incredible this fabric looks wrapped around our black & white striped zippers!

This Quattro/ PortaPockets duo is nothing short of eye-popping! Carol Haas of Dexter, MI has carried this bag all summer and didn't want to take pictures until she was ready to trade it for a Fall bag.
She said her dynamic duo carried virtually everything she needed it to, but she did add an additional tab with which to secure her keys!

Olive Ann Designs is a mother-daughter team that was established in 2009. They produce unique patterns for children's clothing and other related projects. I think their designs are just FABULOUS! They have some of the cutest dress patterns on the market as well as skirts  and other fun stuff like baby slings, nursing shawls and duvet covers, just to name a few. And for you shop owners, Olive Ann is happy to do wholesale orders!   :)

SmileGram-
A woman rubs a lamp and out pops a genie. "You're a kind lady, so I'll grant you one wish," the genie tells her.
"See this cat? I'd rather have a strong, handsome man," she says.
The genie agrees and--POOF!--the cat turns into a Brad Pitt clone. The woman leaps into his lap.
"Do you have anything to say before we make love?" she asks.
"Yes," he says. "I bet you wish you didn't have me neutered last week!"

Yes! You DID read the title right! This blew my mind when I ran across it on Amazon the other day, so I just had to share it. I have NOT tried this, nor do I endorse it, but would LOVE to know if any of you do and what you think! This is what the promo says on Amazon.
Crafting with Cat Hair shows readers how to transform stray clumps of fur into soft and adorable handicrafts. From kitty tote bags and finger puppets to fluffy cat toys, picture frames, and more, these projects are cat-friendly, eco-friendly, and require no special equipment or training. You can make most of these projects in under an hour—with a little help, of course, from your feline friends!
Isn't this WILD?

Headlines in Sewing- Zero Waste Design
Did you know that approximately 15 percent of fabric is wasted in the manufacture of a typical garment? Think about it: When a pattern is cut out, the leftover scraps are usually considered useless because they’re too small to sew into anything else. But eco-fashion designers such as Mark Liu and Timo Rassanen are changing all that with their ingenious “zero-waste” fabric patterns that fit the smaller components of his clothes among the larger ones like a puzzle so that every single scrap is utlized. WOW! Now that is TRULY “cutting” edge!

Cat Site of the Month- The iPurr Cat Bed

Monthly Trivia-
On this day in 1991, basketball legend Earvin "Magic" Johnson stuns the world by announcing his sudden retirement from the Los Angeles Lakers, after testing positive for HIV, the virus that causes AIDS. At the time, many Americans viewed AIDS as a gay white man's disease. Johnson, who is African American and heterosexual, was one of the first sports stars to go public about his HIV-positive status.
And here's the deal... Even though Magic Johnson has had MANY birthdays since making that announcement, he is NOT celebrating his birthday today, but guess who is?
Folk singer Mary Travers (of Peter, Paul & Mary) would have been 74 today. (You might not believe this, but Mary used to be one of my neighbors in Connecticut when I was a kid.) She shared her special day with two other famous singers, Johnny Rivers and Joni Mitchell, who wrote one of my all-time favorites, Both Sides Now.
And if today is also your birthday, here's a great, big "Happy Birthday to YOU" from StudioKat Designs, and if today is NOT your birthday, you can celebrate the day anyway, but if taking in a basketball game was on your mind, it's going to have to be a collegiate game, because those pro basketball players, even the announcers like Magic Johnson, are all on a 'Lock Out'!

Well, that's it for now, so until next month, remember!
Sewing Forever, Housework Whenever!
