Happy Winter Solstice!

It's a nice reminder that after today, each day gets brighter. Brighter as we deliver on our charitable mission to share the art of dance in schools. And brighter even still in May as we culminate with our Back to the Streets edition of Dance Parade! Read on to check out the progress in our Year-End Campaign to make it all happen.
Wishing you a joyous holiday season!
Greg Miller
Director, Dance Parade New York

We'll be "Back to the Streets" dancing again in May and presenting over 10,000 dancers from over 100 unique styles of dance!  Since 2008, Dance Parade has provided dozens of education residencies to schools and community centers throughout the NYC metro area. GivingTuesday kicked off our Year-End campaign to raise $13,000 of critical funds for dance education so that over a 1500 participants from a dozen schools and community centers will get dance programs that culminate in the parade. To help, our Board is generously offering a 3:1 match along with great perks. And we've got just 22% to reach our goal:
The CARES Act created an enhanced tax deduction for cash charitable gifts up to $300 for single or married filers in 2020. Previously only those able to itemize decutions could deduct from their taxes. But now, these are “above-the-line” write-off on tax returns, meaning the benefit is received whether deductions are itemized or not. Congress extended the write-off and boosted it to $600 for married couples filing together in 2021!
This campaign will serve these schools with ten week dance classes in 3 languages:
  • I.S. 347, Bushwick, Brooklyn
  • P.S. 86K, Brooklyn
  • International Charter School of NY, Brooklyn
  • PS56, Brooklyn
  • Ft. Hamilton Senior Center, Brooklyn
  • P.S. 272, Brooklyn
  • P.S. X114, Bronx
  • P.S. X537, Bronx
  • PS 023, Bronx
  • University Neighborhood HS, Manhattan
  • P.S. 34, Manhattan
  • iSchool, Chelsea, Manhattan
  • P.S. 112Q, Queens
  • Virtual classes in English, Spanish, Japanese & Chinese
Kids will culminate their programs with participation in the 16th Annual Dance Parade and then showcase their work on stage at DanceFest after the parade!
For many, this will be an experience of a lifetime as most have never appeared on stage!
