Dear Friends and Colleagues,

On behalf of the Board of the National Coalition for Mental Health Recovery (NCMHR), we invite you to participate in the monthly meetings of the NCMHR Advocacy Committee. The first meeting will be held on Wednesday, January 28th, 7:00 p.m.–8:00 p.m. ET (4:00 p.m.–5:00 p.m. PT). We are resuming these advocacy meetings in response to the growing nationwide threats facing community-based mental health services and supports and individuals with psychiatric diagnoses.

The rapidly shifting federal policy landscape and recent actions that jeopardize these community-based services and supports, and the individuals who use them, have made it clear that we need a consistent space to connect, share timely updates, and coordinate advocacy efforts. These meetings will allow us to stay aligned, respond quickly to emerging challenges, and collectively push back against policies that threaten access to the services and supports that promote recovery.

This is an important opportunity to come together as national advocates, exchange information, and identify strategies to protect and strengthen these services and supports during a critical moment.

Since its founding in 2006, the National Coalition for Mental Health Recovery (NCMHR) has worked to ensure that consumer/survivors have a major voice in the development and implementation of health care, mental health, and social policies at the state and national levels, empowering people to recover and lead a full life in the community.
