Upcoming Bnei Akiva Teaneck-Wide Program |
Bnei Akiva of Teaneck invites you for a movie and to make your own Pizza!
Where: EJ's (1448 Queen Anne Road)
When: Rosh Chodesh Kislev, November 27, 2011
Who: 3rd Grade from 3:00 - 5:00 p.m.
and 4th Grade from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m.
Cost: $8.
No reservation needed! Just drop your child off!
Bnei Akiva of Teaneck introduced its Snif Chadash of Teaneck Darom 2 weeks ago, and we had an overwhelming response from the community. As a result of the unanticipated number of children, some adjustments
have been made to the program.
Early this week, the Shaliach Bnei
Akiva, our Roshei Snif and parent coordinators met to set up a new format for Snif, with smaller groups, more parent volunteers and more structured activities.
We look forward to our upcoming Snifim and hope to see all of your children there.
Please bear in mind that while we want every child to have fun, each Snif will have an educational Zionist element to it.
Please speak to your children about meaningfully participating in the program, following instructions and behaving in a respectful manner in the host shul.
Snif is open to all youth from grades 1 to 6.
You are welcome to contact with Pam Scheininger at pscheininger@hotmail.com with any feedback, suggestions or important information about your children (i.e., allergies etc.).
Due to the early times of minyan on Shabbos afternoon and
the importance of Seuda Shelishit at our shul, we will be having Bnei Akiva Snif at Netivot Shalom for December and January. We will return to our Shul on February 17th. We will be hosting a Saturday night program during those months, so keep your eyes open!
Upcoming Snifim:
When: Shabbat, December 3rd, 4:00 - 5:15 p.m.
Where: Congregation Netivot Shalom at 811 Palisade Avenue.
When: Shabbat, December 17th, 4:00 - 5:15 p.m.
Where: Congregation Netivot Shalom at 811 Palisade Avenue.
Fall/Winter Friday Night Onegs
We are in the process of setting times for our set of onegs during the fall and winter. Last year, we had a very successful season, and we would like to build upon our past success. This year, we would like to have one oneg during the months of November, December, January and February. We are again looking for sponsors. We have two levels of sponsorship:
Single Oneg Sponsor - $25
Season Sponsor - $100
If you would like to become a sponsor of this terrific mix of Torah and social activity, please contact Rocky Cohen at mrrocks@gmail.com.
Learning Opportunities
We are always looking for opportunities to strengthen our connection to Torah. The more Torah in the shul, the better, so let us know if you have any other suggestions.
- Rabbi Ciment's shiur is switching to Wednesday nights at 8:30 pm.
- Halachot of Shabbat (8:15 am, Shabbat morning) - Hilchot Borer (separating foods/items).
We are starting a new topic, so it's a perfect opportunity for newcomers to join the class.
Friday Night Mikvah Project
We want to thank Menachem Schechter for both taking on this very important endeavor, and for coming to speak with us about the status of the project. We hope that you will give generously to this worthy cause which will allow our community to practice aspects of Taharat Ha'Mishpacha in the most appropriate fashion. Should you have any questions, please feel free to contact Menachem at Michael.schechter@jpmorgan.com.
Chessed Opportunities
Bikur Cholim Volunteers
Arzei Darom is looking for bikur cholim volunteers to visit the patients at CareOne and Holy Name Medical Center on Shabbat. For those who have volunteered in the past, the visits are gratefully appreciated. Please volunteer and encourage your children to join you for this great mitzvah. Please e-mail Susan Taubes at bikurcholim@arzeidarom.org, so she can add your name to the rotation list and we can have an organized schedule each Shabbat.
Social Hall Rentals
Having a party? Need space for a simcha? Know someone who is? Arzei Darom's social is available for rent at reasonable prices. Please send an email to hallrental@arzeidarom.org for further information.
Important Safety Notice
PLEASE DO NOT BLOCK the doorways or the walkway leading to the doors to the shul with your baby carriage. We understand that if it is raining or snowing you do not want your carriage to get wet, but this is a safety issue. The doorways MUST NOT BE BLOCKED AT ANY TIME.
Thank you for your anticipated cooperation.
Kiddush Committee News
Holly Weiss will be helping to coordinate kiddush and seudat shlishit sponsorships. To participate in an upcoming Crock Pot Challenge, other Kiddush or seudat shlishit opportunities, please contact Holly Weiss at kiddush@arzeidarom.org.
Kiddush clean up is on a rotating basis, based on your last name.
While we recognize that everyone in your group may not be available each Shabbat, we ask that you pitch in if you are assigned in that month so that the same people are not doing the clean-up each week.
We all like kiddushes and we all make plans for lunch after shul so please be respectful of your fellow congregants by helping out during your assigned month if you are in shul.
November: Krupnick, Leifer, Levin, Lichtenstein, Littwin
For information on sponsoring a Kiddush, Kiddush cleanup, or the Kiddush committee, please contact kiddush@arzeidarom.org.

Teaneck Mikva Countdown To Completion
With profound gratitude to Hashem, we are happy to report that our community's new Mikvah is complete. Our new structure with 18 preparation rooms, 4 borot, a handicapped accessible mikvah, kallah room and state of the art amenities is an institution of which we can all be proud. It has raised our shmirat hamitzvot to a new level of dignity and is alleviating the issues that plagued our old mikvah.
However, we are still in need of funds to close out our capital campaign. As you consider your tzedaka allocations, please consider the Mikvah, a community institution, which is a foundation of our kehilla and ensures the continuity of future generations. You will be receiving a fundraising brochure in the mail as well as a phone call from a shul liaison. We ask that you respond generously. With best wishes for a Chag Same'ach.
