‘Would you like to be the Official Pink Stormtrooper of Sweden?’
Following on from Art Wars Sweden that opened in Gothenburg in January Art Wars founder and artist Ben Moore is now calling for applicants to take on the identity of the ‘Official Pink Stormtrooper of Sweden’.
Applicants must be over 18 and live in Sweden, can be either male or female and be willing to attend a special ceremony in Gothenburg on the weekend of April 11-12 where they will be officially awarded the honour of becoming the ‘Official Pink Stormtrooper of Sweden’ and be issued with the armour and helmet and an official Pink Stormtrooper Passport.
This person is then free to live life as the Pink Stormtrooper in Sweden when and how and they see fit.
3e Vaningen Arts Center have agreed to dedicate a solo show to exhibit the documentation of the life and experiences of the ‘Pink Stormtrooper of Sweden’ and a video / photo diary will be kept up to date on the official Art Wars website.
If you would like to be the ‘Official Pink Stormtrooper of Sweden’ please email info@artwars.net by no later than the 23rd March with a brief description of yourself and why you want to be the Pink Stormtrooper (no more than 200 words) with a photo of yourself and details of your height.
As part of his ongoing art practise Moore plans to issue every country where Art Wars takes place with one official Pink Stormtrooper.
Ben Moore became the first official Pink Stormtrooper in 2007 and remains the official pink Stormtrooper of the United Kingdom.
Various performances and installations can be viewed on artwars.net and include ‘Tate Storm’ 2008 where Moore entered the Tate Modern and stood uninterrupted for over 4 hours convincing visitors and staff that he was a piece of sculpture. See video clip here.
During the G20 London Demos in 2009 Moore entered a riot in the City of London in a pink suit and Stormtrooper helmet. Later on that year Moore carried out a Pink Stormtrooper strip tease outside the houses of parliament. see here
