The presenters will have a dialogue around the experience of hearing voices and other unusual or extreme experiences. Topics covered will include the history of the Hearing Voices Network, movement values, what it's like to hear voices and have other unusual or extreme experiences, and how to cope with and support others going through these experiences. As a part of the webinar, the presenters will provide an overview of the National Empowerment Center's (NEC's) Hearing Voices Curriculum.

Dan Sullivan
Dan is a person with lived experience whose story is featured in the award-winning documentary Healing Voices. He was part of one of the first Hearing Voices groups in the country and is also featured in the National Empowerment Center's Hearing Voices Curriculum video.
Latosha Taylor
Latosha Taylor is a childhood trauma and psychiatric survivor who has transformed her lived experience into a passion for building community-based approaches to support others to find value in their experiences. She is also a Peer Recovery Support Specialist that worked as an Educator and Advocate for different nonprofits. Latosha has presented in several national conferences on the diverse roles of peer support.
Latosha formerly taught the Recovery Support Specialist Certification and Training for CT and is a nationally certified eCPR facilitator. She sits on the National Coalition for Mental Health Recovery Board of Directors and works legislatively nationally & locally to ensure people struggling with behavioral health issues are seen, heard, and valued. Latosha is featured in the National Empowerment Center's Hearing Voices Curriculum training video.
She is committed to advancing equity, promoting mental wellness, and supporting initiatives that strengthen communities through advocacy, education, and collective action.
Driven by a deep belief that lasting change begins with empowered people and connected communities, Latosha continues to dedicate her work to creating meaningful opportunities that improve lives
Oryx Cohen, MPA
Oryx Cohen is the Chief Executive Officer of the National Empowerment Center (NEC). He is a master Emotional CPR trainer, which is NEC’s core training. Oryx co-produced and is a subject in the award-winning social action documentary HEALING VOICES, which was released in April 2016. Oryx has lived experience with reducing medications and co-created a Coming off Psychiatric Drugs training with Will Hall that has been delivered around the world. He is featured in Daniel Mackler’s documentary, Coming Off Psych Drugs: A Meeting of the Minds, which is now available for free on YouTube. In his spare time, Oryx coaches girls basketball year round, and won Massachusetts Coach of the Year for 2024-2025. Oryx lives with his wife and two children in Massachusetts.
