Year-end Eruv and Mikvah Fund Donations

Thank you to the families that have already contributed to the Eruv and Mikvah Funds. Just as a reminder, Arzei Darom (as did all of the shuls in Teaneck) agreed to collect on behalf of and pass along to the Eruv and the Mikvah donations from our members. Below is a brief description of each effort:

ERUV - The Eruv Committee incurs costs in inspecting and maintaining the eruv, which serves the entire Teaneck community. As a result, every family has been asked to contribute a minimum of $18 towards the Eruv fund to help cover these costs. We do hope that 100% of the membership will participate, at least minimally, and that those families who can afford to will consider giving more. Please make your checks out to the shul, and mark them clearly that they are for the Eruv. The shul will then transfer those funds to the Eruv Corporation.

MIKVAH - Similar to the Eruv fund, the Mikvah has asked that members voluntarily donate $36, through Arzei Darom, to the Mikvah. The donations are intended to cover the Mikvah to continue to operate both the main Mikvah and the Friday night Mikvah, which benefits the entire Teaneck Community. Please make your checks out to the shul, and mark them clearly that they are for the Mikvah. The shul will then transfer those funds to the Mikvah.

Membership Directory

By now all members and associate members should have received an email with all of your information from the prior directory, for update, correction, etc. Please reply to that email. If you didn't receive an email, and/or would like to update your membership status in order to be listed in the directory, please send an email to directory@arzeidarom.org.

Family Photo
This year we are again including the option for you to add a family photo to your listing. Just submit a digital photo of your family for us to include along with your listing.

Babysitter Page
Do you have children of babysitting age? We are offering them an opportunity for free advertising! We are compiling a list of babysitters for a special page in the directory. If your sons or daughters are interested in participating, please submit the following information to: Stacy Goldstein stacyag@gmail.com.

Name of Babysitter:
Email address:
Phone number:
Age:

Advertising In The Directory
We are also seeking everyone's assistance in soliciting ads for the directory. If everyone brings in one or two ads, this will be an extremely successful project. Remember to ask everyone you encounter for an ad - some suggestions of whom to ask include:
  • your beautician/barber/nail salon
  • your electrician/plumber/other contractor or handyman
  • your favorite store
  • your doctor/dentist
  • your car mechanic/car salesman
  • your realtor
  • your attorney
  • your favorite restaurant/caterer/kosher store
  • your jeweler
Every little bit helps, and makes it possible for us to issue a beautiful directory. You can download an ad order form from the shul website http://www.arzeidarom.org/directory-5776.html

Kiddush Cooperative 2015

Our third cycle of our kiddush cooperative is underway. Through the contributions of $200 from about 20 families, 7-8 additional hot kiddushim per year are added. This is an excellent way to sponsor kiddush at a very reasonable price. While we typically order from our local vendors, we welcome feedback from Kiddush Cooperative members on what types of menus they would like to see.

Thank you to the following families who have joined this year's Kiddush Cooperative: Adams, Alt, Barber, Barta, Blass, Blum, Borodach,Davidowitz, Distenfeld, Einhorn, Eisenman, Knoll, Levin, Mittan, Rabitz, Rivkin, Rothstein, Rose and Anonymous families for your season sponsorship.

We still welcome families to join the Kiddush Cooperative. The more families we have, the more hot kiddushes we can enjoy throughout the year. It is not too late to join! Please email Holly Weiss at holly.ohrenweiss1@gmail.com to add your name to the Kiddush Cooperative.

Kiddush Committee News

Families interested in sponsoring a kiddush and/or seudat shlishit should contact Holly so that she can reserve the date on the shul calendar. Please also let Holly know if you would like to participate in an upcoming Crock Pot Challenge which generally takes place around Rosh Chodesh. We've been doing these for a year and are always seeking new families to take the challenge.

Kiddush clean up is on a rotating basis, based on your last name. While we recognize that everyone in your group may not be available each Shabbat, we ask that you pitch in if you are assigned in that month so that the same people are not doing the clean-up each week. We all like kiddushes and we all make plans for lunch after shul so please be respectful of your fellow congregants by helping out during your assigned month if you are in shul. We also ask that you please watch your children during Kiddush to the extent possible, and to place their finished items in the garbage cans provided.

December:Leifer, Lichtenstein, Levin, Margolin, Max

For more information on anything Kiddush related, please contact Holly Weiss at kiddush@arzeidarom.org.

We are always looking for opportunities to strengthen our connection to Torah. The more Torah in the shul, the better, so let us know if you have any other suggestions.

A number of Hebrew and English seforim are missing from our library. If you have any of them, please return them so that other members will have the ability to use them as well. If you are currently using one of the seforim, and need to continue to use it, please contact Rebecca Segal so that we can keep track of where our seforim are. Thank you.
