Safeguarding is an essential part in the life and ministry of the Church.  It is the responsibility of all of us to ensure our parishes and institutions are safe places, especially for those who are vulnerable.  Abuse and harm have no place in our diocese.  There is zero tolerance to abuse, harm and any behaviour that falls short of appropriate safeguarding practices as expressed in National Policies.

Bishop Mark Davies welcomes Pope Francis’ new encyclical on the Sacred Heart of Jesus
Introducing the Encyclical Letter ‘Dilexit nos – He loved us’

The Bishop of Shrewsbury, Bishop Mark Davies, has welcomed Pope Francis’ fourth encyclical letter Dilexit Nos on the Human and Divine Love of the Heart of Jesus Christ, as a “great gift” saying that, as the Church seeks to grow in communion, participation and mission, “an authentic path of renewal must pass through the Heart of Jesus.”
Introducing the encyclical, Bishop Davies wrote, “the Holy Father offers us a sustained meditation on the Heart of Jesus Christ in the pages of Scripture; in the teaching of the Magisterium; and through the history of devotion to the Sacred Heart, drawing out its profound personal and social implications. In this way, the Pope speaks in continuity with the Church’s faith and devotion.”

Listening with the Heart

In order to continue growing as a Synodal Church the department of Adult Education and Evangelisation would like to offer another round of the Listening With the Heart sessions. These sessions build up the skills of small group facilitation in the context of Parish Pastoral Councils, RCIA, Prayer Groups, Lenten Groups, Confirmation Preparation, and any other parish groups.

These short sessions will help us to develop an attitude of listening with the heart and sharing with generosity. It will provide participants with a model for rooting decision making in prayer and discernment and the tools necessary for effective facilitation.

If you would like your parish or pastoral area to hold one of these sessions, please contact adult.education@cliftondiocese.com
