Feels like time has come to a standstill? Deprived from all its international travelers the South Lombok surfing community have certainly had the waves all for themselves. But the smart ones are already at work for attending the next sunrise.

Outstanding architectural design supported by creative new brains are feeding the new Seaside Society getting born under our eyes. The bigger estates, such as Selong Selo, the one with the longest track record, Tampah Hills, Samara or Twin Peaks, the only beachfront one, they all keep adding high end innovative and sustainable villas and resorts to this remote and epic coastline. On top of that, guess what else is coming along: an international yacht Marina, the MotoGP track 2021, two iconic beach clubs and a great diversity of restaurants.

Never too late to join the South Lombok lifestyle

International travel restrictions and social distancing guidelines have affected tourism sectors far more than any other industries. The seasonal cash flow dry-up has turned into desert crossing. Business have had to close, at least temporarily, unless they can rely and tap into local tourism. Once again though hard asset holders are better off as cash rich investors have moved capital into two exciting bets: the technology sector but also real estate in new lifestyle destinations like South Lombok "Seaside Society".

We did observe a steep fall in real estate inquiries back in March with the outbreak in Europe while investors were selling liquid assets and raising cash. The following confinement period has given plenty of time to think and analyze, and inquiries started to rise again to reach highs. South Lombok is considered a relative safe haven, so the smart ones started buying again helped by the "Corona" discount. Even though only lock fees are paid until the foreign buyer can come visit and sign, the interest is crystal clear: invest in new lifestyle destinations.

Most of the latter are return visitors who know Lombok. They had finally time to study the market and make a pick. Others decided to make their dreams come true this time and starts something new: move to Lombok, change your lifestyle, work remotely or open your own business. You can also count on Indonesian savvy city dwellers who see it as the opportunity to venture into magic South Lombok and its upcoming MotoGP. The most surprising category is current expatriates getting an upgrade for a better spot: closer to the surf, nature and part of a well minded community.

Serviced sites with clear prospects have been the top sales. Kuta Skyline is our most advanced site combining servicing and the best view in Kuta bay as well as a strategic location close to Siwa day club or Ashtari landmark and other high end villas. Twin Peaks is another very successful development, where two projects are completedwith : Segara Lombok hotel and beachfront Villa Jacques. This estate is flat and managed around a Covenant for the benefits of all the owners. More high end villas start construction this year as well as a new restaurant by an Australian chef and a Chinese therapy center. Surrounded by more successful developments, it may become the Seminyak of South Lombok.
