The lunar new year falls on Tuesday, February 5, marking the Year of the Pig.

There are several San Francisco activities around the Chinese New Year. Kicking off with A Procession and Celebration Tuesday in Portsmouth Square, The fun continues Saturday the 9th, with Choy Sun Doe Day and the exchanging of red envelopes. The big party is Saturday and Sunday the 23rd and 24th with the Chinatown Community Street Fair and the Chinese New year Parade at 5:15pm on Saturday.
