Major upgrade at the center.
The picture on top of this newsletter was taken from the 2nd floor level of our new beach "shack".
This second level will be used as a classroom, and a chill lounge were family members can read a book, and just rest right on the beach in the shade while we are out sailing.
There is still some work to be done, but we are so excited with the upgrade, and could not wait to share the news.
The quickest way to improve your performance.
2 time World champion Nick Thompson clinics in Cabarete.
Many sailors who come to train with us share the same frustration. What they say is: I train a lot, I race but I still can't get over the "bump" and I seem to always end up more or less where I was before this extra effort.
Nick Thompson knows better than most what it takes to make the Laser sail fast in any condition and what it takes to win a race.
He has an exceptional capacity to explain each point, and achieving it in manageable steps. No topic seems to complicated for him to explain in detail and patience, assuring it was understood. We really feel that the days with Nick is a real short cut to improving your results.

Hide from the committee on the start-line, with a shorter number.
The Laser class rules require us to use our hull number as the sail number. Unless we are chartering a boat, or sailing in an event that boats are supplied by the organizers.
The legal width of each digit is 200 mm. Except the digit one that can be just 45 mm wide. In the two pictures below one can see how sail number 211921 is 465 mm (18.3") shorter compared than 209376. The shorter sail number allows this boat to be at least 10" ahead on the start-line without being seen. ILCA can correct this advantage by changing the rule so the measurements will start from the luff (mast sleeve) instead of the leach as it is now.
