          Ross' Refrain...

It was great to see everyone after a week off, and even better to hear the sounds you're making already!

Just a reminder to have our "church gigs" on your calendar. While they are not mandatory, we definitely sound better based on the amount of folks who show up! They are:

4/19: First Baptist in Ithaca (~9:15 call)
5/10: Unitarian Church in Ithaca (~9:15 call)

See you on Monday!"

Mike's Measure:

Still Need to Pay Semester Dues?
I can take cash or check (made out to A.C.I.) for the $50 semester fee at next rehearsal. Not sure if you have paid? I’ll bring the roster to confirm. If you would prefer to charge the fee, the registration site (secured by Square) still is live: https://acithaca.org/groups/voices/join/

What Are We Singing About?
It can be a challenge to convey the meaning of a song when not in a language you know. Several of our eight non-English songs have translations in the sheet music but some do not. For your convenience, I posted a compilation of translations at the top of our practice track page: https://acithaca.org/groups/voices/music-files-for-practice/

Playlist of Semester Music
I had a request for a YouTube playlist of our semester music so one could listen unattended while shoveling snow, kneading dough, etc. Here you go: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P0oycfCbtVM&list=PLh3W40PpCvGP9FYnNgJeX5LVd09iHRY7n&pp=sAgC

         Singing Resistance

Inspired and empowered by the beauty and bravery of the Singing Resistance https://www.instagram.com/singingresistance/ happening in Minnesota, you are personally invited to gather with singers and resisters across the Ithaca community as we sing in peaceful protest and solidarity with others around the world.

Minneapolis community members are inviting one-another to gather and sing, believing that, “In the context of escalating violence towards our communities and federal invasions of our cities and towns, we sing because song is an antidote to fear, song helps us connect to each other, and through song we can name and protect what we hold sacred. We sing publicly in the streets for the sake of solace, strength, solidarity, to voice our dissent, and to refuse cooperation with oppressive and autocratic forces.”

    Ithaca Calls To Action:
Sunday, February 22nd - 6:30-8:30pm - Gather at the First Unitarian Society of Ithaca to be nourished by learning and singing songs. We will introduce the Singing Resistance tool kit to whoever is interested.

Saturday February 28th - 2-2:30pm - at the Bernie Milton pavilion on the Commons.

All are welcome! Please feel free to let those in your networks know! RSVP to the events above!
