Real San Francisco. Real history. Real fun.
unique, boutique walking tours of San Francisco's past

July Sails

On July 7, 1846, John Montgomery sailed the USS Portsmouth into Yerba Buena Cove and planted an American Flag on San Francisco's Town Square.  He proclaimed all of California was now the territory of the United States. A pretty nice 70th birthday present even if was a little belated and impossible to wrap.

FOOT! Fun Walking Tour’s Walking on Water will show you the modern day location of  the original site of Yerba Buena Cove and the large portion of the bay that was made into land for the soon to be rapid expansion of the city of St. Francis. There are many public spaces that were carved from the water and celebrate the people and events that reshaped not only the waterfront but also the look and feel of San Francisco.

Book our July tour of the month Walking on Water  any date in July and receive $5 off each ticket.

A portion of the profits from our July Tour of the Month  will go to the San Francisco Recreation and Park Departmenta local non-profit whose mission "is to provide opportunities for San Francisco residents and visitors alike to gather, play, learn, relax, and enjoy nature throughout the city."
