Swinging into action at LSI London Hampstead's Table Tennis Tournament
Deep inside the depths of our school in London Hampstead, it's possible to discern the faint tap tap tapping of a table tennis ball in constant motion. This year's table tennis tournament has proved to be highly popular and hotly contested by both the LSI staff and students.

For weeks before the tournament started competitors found themselves vying for time slots to hone their skills. Due to the high numbers of entrant (twenty-four in total!) it was decided to make it a doubles tournament. Spread over an entire week, disappointed contestants were knocked out in first rounds, quarter finals and semi-finals.

Neatly representing different sections of the LSI population, students Yusuke Yamauchi and Kota Kimura, both from Japan, faced teachers James Butcher and Michael Sisley in the finals. With fellow LSI students and staff watching in support, the contestants battled for points over two closely fought matches with the teachers finally emerging victorious. Lifting the trophy (a box of chocolates) both James and Michael claimed the moment as the highlight of their table tennis careers to date!

New Video for LSI Brisbane
With a fantastic all year round climate Australia is a great place to learn English. Hot summers, warm winters, abundant sunshine and great beaches make Brisbane a great location, but what else does the city and in particular LSI Brisbane have to offer?

LSI Brisbane have put together this fantastic new video which gives a great insight into what it's actually like to study there. From footage taken during classes, around the school and in locations around the city, we follow four students who talk about their experiences and impressions of LSI and Brisbane.

San Diego Trivia

San Diego is well-known for its many beaches, each one with its own personality. We have put together an LSI San Diego beach guide featuring eight local beaches, starting with ...

La Jolla: The La Jolla Cove provides a perfect chance for amateur snorkeling and La Jolla Shores remains a terrific destination for swimming, kayaking, and other activities. Meet a seal up close! Definitely the beach you are most likely to spot a Lamborghini.

What Our Students Have to Say About Us
At LSI New York, when long-term students depart, we ask them to reflect for a few minutes on their time with us, and share their memories of their experience at LSI and in NYC. One student, Eliav Boaron from Israel, had a particularly eloquent and heartfelt response:

"I've been at LSI for 20 weeks, and I think that I learned more than English conversation skills or grammar. I think that my teacher has given me not only tools to improve my English (speaking listening, reading, and writing), but also the understanding that with practice and training I can achieve any goal in my life. It doesn't matter what you want; with hard work and the belief that no matter what happens you never give up—nothing can stop you."

"When I came to New York, five months ago, I was thinking that my only goal here is to elevate my English skills. Today, I can tell you that this trip gave me much more. For example, I know much better about cultures from all over the world, about how to be a better person, a person that want to be more humble and helpful in this world."

"I want to thank all of you in LSI for those five months. It was a complete privilege to be your student. So my best memory is this insight, that started right from the beginning."
LSI New York Director Kerry Linder with Eliav

Feature Teacher
English For Business
Andrew Peritoire teacher at LSI Berkeley
Andrew Peritore has been teaching at LSI Berkeley for five years during which time he has taught all levels. He enjoys many aspects of teaching including helping students improve their grammar and knowledge of phrasal verbs. Most rewarding is seeing students use the skills gained in class to get to know other students from different cultural and linguistic backgrounds.

When not helping students improve their English, Andrew coaches a local high school men's lacrosse team. Lacrosse is a team sport originally played by the indigenous peoples of North America, using a small ball and a long stick. the objective of the game is to score by shooting the ball into an opponent's goal. Andrew grew up in New Jersey playing the sport which is now the fastest growing sport in the US. He likes the sport as it is "fast, physical and high scoring." His team has a record of eight wins against only one loss and have high hopes of winning the league.
