JUST.EQUAL SEEKS ELECTION COMMITMENTS TO BLOCK FUTURE RELIGIOUS FREEDOM / ANTI-TRANS LEGISLATION

Just.Equal Australia says it’s focus this election will be to block future religious freedom and anti-trans laws and to seek commitments on intersex law reform and mental health funding.

Spokesperson, Sally Goldner, said,

“We will be seeking commitments from candidates to vote down any legislation that rolls back LGBTIQA+ human rights including religious freedom and anti-trans laws.”

“We will also be seeking health care coverage for trans medical costs, national standards for banning unnecessary non-consenting surgeries on intersex children, education campaigns about the diverse needs of LGBTIQA+ people, and more funding to reduce the high levels of LGBTIQ+ mental health distress.”

Spokesperson, Brian Greig, added,

“Soon we will release the results of a national survey of LGBTIQA+ priorities which we will seek a commitment from all major parties to implement.”
