(September 15, 2025 - Toronto, ON) - Today, Toronto indie outfit Jane’s Party share new single "Over You". Blending bossa nova rhythms with the band’s signature indie sound, “Over You” was penned in the wake of a personal tragedy, and marries comfort and melancholy with an irresistible breezy groove.

“I'm not really a religious person anymore, but the thought of your loved ones keeping an eye on you after they’ve passed on is quite a comforting thought,” shares Devon Richardson. “The track was written a couple months after my mom passed away, and I feel like the mood we struck musically really captures the melancholy lyrics. The groove is pretty beachy though, so feel free to dance through the sadness!”

The track weaves finger-plucked nylon string guitar, congas, and shakers alongside electric guitar and a driving rock backbeat. The result is simultaneously intimate and infectious, climaxing with what Richardson calls, “one of Tom’s best solos on record.”

“Around this time, we were diving deep into bossa nova,” shares Tom Ionescu. “We’d already released our samba-inspired cover of July Talk’s ‘Guns & Ammunition’, and were experimenting with ways to weave Brazilian guitar and percussion into our original songs without it feeling like pastiche or wildly outside of our style. I think ‘Over You’ captures that fine line perfectly and stays honest to our identity.”

The new track follows the band’s recent singles, “Comfortable People”, and "Changes", which marked their first collaboration with global sync licensing platform Artlist, further expanding their international reach and opening new avenues for discovery among content creators worldwide.

Jane’s Party is set to open for Tom Odell at MTelus Centre in Montreal on September 29, and Massey Hall in Toronto on September 30.

The band remains passionate about their ongoing partnership with the Community Music Schools of Toronto (CMST), where the band offers guest workshops, mentorship opportunities, and a $1,000 annual donation supporting CMST’s goal of enriching the lives of underprivileged youth through music education. The partnership kicked off earlier this year with a fundraising benefit concert at Toronto’s The Cameron House. Learn more about CMST HERE.

It would be easy to call Jane’s Party ‘the best-established Canadian band you may not have heard yet,’ but the fact is, you probably have. Their effortless penchant for catchy pop melodies rich with substance has made them sought-after for literally hundreds of syncs across pretty much every creative medium.

They’ve had songs placed in films and series like Saving Hope, Burden of Truth, Kim’s Convenience, and the iconic Hockey Night in Canada; been commissioned for custom compositions for popular TV and podcast networks; and earned impressive engagement numbers across their various social media channels including entries in TikTok’s commercial library and over 500 million streams of their hit “Daydream” after a feature in the gaming phenomenon that is Fortnite.

All the while, they’ve honed a killer live show while sharing stages with the likes of Lord Huron, Arkells, Tokyo Police Club, LIGHTS, Manic Street Preachers, and BRITs Critics’ Choice winner Tom Odell. That’s in addition to official slots at dozens of taste-making music festivals on multiple continents.

The new singles arrive following 2024’s The Best of Wild in the Woods, a collection of outdoor live recordings featuring collaborations with a plethora of notable Canadian artists, including Greg Keelor (Blue Rodeo), Shad, and Ewan Currie (The Sheepdogs) to name a few. Despite their impressive progress, where Jane’s Party wants to be hasn’t really changed: in the studio making music and on stage sharing it with others. That’s where you’ll find them for the foreseeable future, adding level after level to their sky-scraping career trajectory, careful and calculated. Soon enough, “the best-established Canadian band you may not have heard” line will be laughable.

About Jane’s Party
Jane’s Party is a Toronto-based indie rock band that started as a casual garage project among four university friends in North York. Since their humble beginnings with The Garage Sessions LP in 2009, the band—comprising Zach Sutton (drums), Jeff Giles (keys/guitar/vocals), Tom Ionescu (guitar/vocals), and Devon Richardson (bass/vocals)—has evolved into a revered outfit with a diverse sonic palette. Over the years, they’ve dabbled in folk-rock, electro-pop, and polished pop rock, maintaining their signature catchy melodies and rich harmonies throughout.
