This last week of October I will
share one of many more things
that I have learned over the
years about being self employed
and independent in the note
business.
As note professionals we need to
become more aware and more
interested in helping the note
holders solve their needs rather
than getting deals. If we become
so focused on just the facts,
figures and numbers our note
business will suffer for it.
This business has always been,
and as far as I can see will
always be, a people and
relationship business.
When I discovered years ago that
getting the story behind the
note and trying to find the true
need of the note holder was
often more important than giving
a note holder the highest price
my business really began to
flourish.
I often hear things like,
"...someone else offered more
but I would rather work with
you...". That is what the note
business is all about. Helping
people solve their problems, in
our case their cash problems,
and finding out what type of
transaction will be win-win-win
for all involved (the note
holder, the note investor and
the note broker).
