Dear Music Friends,
We’re already in October, and we hope this message finds you well!
Born in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, as a trumpeter and composer, my mission is to bring original Music to Make You Feel Good to audiences around the world. This fall, I continue that journey together with my musical and life partner, American-born pianist and composer Warren Byrd.
Together we perform as the Duo Laroo/Byrd, or in larger formations like:

HIGHLIGHT: OCT 30 - FLUOR, AMERSFOORT (NL) |
We’re thrilled to announce a very special concert at Fluor, the premier pop venue in the city of Amersfoort, on Thursday, October 30.
|
This night will also mark the farewell of guitarist and composer Maarten Russchen in his role as long-time advisor to Fluor. Prominent figures from the Amersfoort music scene will be present. Maarten will open the night with his own band and join us again on stage for the main concert.

We team up with groove master Coen van Dam (keys/beats) in his project Planet-T, alongside Warren Byrd on vocals and percussion, and a full band. |
Originally planned as a trio with Duo Laroo/Byrd + Maarten Russchen, we’re expanding the group with special guest and Obdam-born bass virtuoso Daniel Gueli, plus the amazing Willem Smid on drums.
Warren Byrd will also share authentic Negro Spirituals and Slave Ritual songs, inviting the audience to experience and participate in this powerful musical heritage. |
We’re currently still in the US and fly back to Europe on Saturday, October 11. Our time here has been creatively rich—composing, recording, and performing new material.

Often called the "Lady Miles Davis", Dutch trumpeter Saskia Laroo blends jazz, funk, hip-hop, soul, and world music in her signature style. As bandleader, composer, and founder of Laroo Records, she’s been performing globally for over three decades with a mission to make jazz accessible, inclusive, and always evolving.
About Warren Byrd
Born in Hartford, CT, Warren Byrd is a world-renowned jazz pianist, vocalist, and composer. Known for his soulful improvisation, deep swing, and gospel-infused touch, he’s collaborated with legends and continues to bridge cultures through his music. He is co-leader of Duo Laroo/Byrd and multiple international projects.
