Issue #159
October 2018
Hello & WELCOME!
We've just gotten back from our first retail show in Virginia Beach, VA which was pretty much a BIG disappointment, (more about that later). But here's the deal, we don't have time to lament that because now we need to gear up for the two biggest shows of the year in Houston, TX! Phew, it's making my head SPIN!
That's right this is the time of year that we become Texas residents for 2 weeks & actually if you add it up, (and I have) we've already been Texas residents for over 6 months of our adult lives! That's pretty amazing, right?
And call me crazy, but we're actually planning on releasing a new pattern PRIOR to heading to Texas, so thanks for reading this month's edition of Kat Bytes which includes a new discount offer for you & of course information about the new pattern!

"Eye Candy" from May
The bags you see below are among those that customers have shared either on our FaceBook business page, our Instagram feed or on our brand new Group page on FaceBook. So thanks to ALL who posted their pictures last month! They were ALL great and here's a few of my favorites!
(For LARGER images: Click on each individual pic)
Peggy Davis said she LOVES the security of having that roomy back pocket of her Sling Along secure against her back. She says its the perfect place for her wallet when she travels!

And Don Distler is back again this month with yet another unique and unusual take on one of our bag patterns... this time he used sugar skulls fabric for a very lively Baggalista!
Barbara Claybrook modified the interior of her Walkabout Wallet so she could store her glucometer & test strips! How clever!

I think Audrey Ferguson is a black & white fan having made up her Quattro & matching PortaPockets PLUS purse insert in a black & white combo!
It's been a while since we've seen an  Odyssey featured on our page & Susan McPartland's Odyssey is especially yummy!  I love the tapestry look of the front flap! Great fussy cutting Susan!
The "Quattro Queen" (Cheryl Maass) is back this month w/ yet another amazing Quattro! It blows my mind how many incredible butterfly fabrics she's able to find & make work for her! Once again, this bag is fantastic!
Agnes Smith followed our lead and used the NY Skylines fabric for her Sling Along and did an exceptional job with the fussy-cutting I must say! She said it was a challenging but rewarding project!

And here's Georgia Segura with another stunningQuattro! Georgia said the Quattro is her all-time favorite bag pattern!

And based on the fabrics that Cathy Drevniok chose to use for her Sling Along, it would be hard to say which she loves better... parrots or butterflies! Either way, this bag is awesome!

And finally, we have Joy Carr and her "crabby" Sling Along! I'm thinking Joy's gathering a lot of attention whenever she carries this impressive bag!

I came across this cute post from See Kate Sew and I thought it might be an interesting and fun read for YOU!

"I love sewing supplies as you’d probably guess! And I've written many posts about sewing supplies in the past but This post is a little different – these items are supplies I keep on hand in my sewing room, but aren’t actually sewing supplies! Multipurpose tools or sewing tool hacks, if you will! ;) Add these 10 favorites to your sewing stash for better sewing, you can probably find a few of them around the house"....

Amy Butler announced recently that she's leaving the quilting industry. The new fabric collection she's launching at Quilt Market this Fall  will be the last of her long & illustrious career!

I don't know about you but this makes me feel kinda sad. Having met Amy myself and been given the chance to observe how she conducts herself in public & with her customers I have to say that she honestly seems to be genuine, gracious and kind. I really like that she has a very definitive style that's easily identifiable & her presence in our industry will certainly be missed. I wish her much success in whatever comes next for her!
