Today's News is Tomorrow's History Lesson
Welcome to our current edition of FOOT!Notes. It's September, and even though last month is over, it's not forgotten. While most events make the news but not the history books, August had some pretty big stories that we'll be studying for a long time: from a clash of cultures to astronomical sights to the devastation of Harvey.
San Francisco is a history lesson of its own. Small events take on much greater proportions when viewed in context and with the help of Father Time. Seemingly unrelated factors (let's say a steep hill, foggy weather, and a need to get to the top) combined with good ol' American ingenuity (through immigrant Andrew Hallidie) resulted in the cable car. Add a century and a half of perspective, and you get an only-in-San-Francisco icon that is recognized around the world.
We are proud to present The Whole Shebang as our Tour of the Month for September. Join us all month long with our original flagship tour, featuring the usual trademark fun and frivolity from FOOT! fun walking tours. Tickets will be discounted all month long, so tag along, won't you?
Since it's back-to-school time, proceeds from our Tour of the Month
will go to The San Francisco Education Fund, a local non-profit that "increases the availability and impact of resources for students and teachers throughout San Francisco public schools."
