Dear friends and neighbors:
LATE ANNOUNCEMENT!: Juventus F.C. is in the house!
Late announcement: Juventus is in the house! After beating Benfica in the International Champions Cup at Red Bull Arena last night, Juventus came back to Hoboken where they are staying and are hosting a Fan Festival at Sinatra Field from 4-8 today.
All FREE! Some players will be there* and legends including Mauro Camoranesi and David Trezeguet are scheduled to be there as well.  Also, Hip Hop GodFather (so I am told) Africa Bambaata will be playing music. There will be face painting, body marbling and skills based competitions and min-matches – something for everyone.
If you or anyone you know are soccer fans, then head down on this gorgeous evening and enjoy Juventus in Hoboken!
As always, feel free to reach out if you want to discuss further by email or by phone 201/208-1674.

PS - if you are mad like I was about why we are just hearing about this now, please send a note to the Mayor/City and say you want to know about these sooner so you can plan to attend.

PSS - the Nixle you received at 2:21 pm was because I happened to ride by Sinatra Field on my bike at 2 pm and see the setup for the event. Thankfully when I reached out to the City they were happy to send out a Nixle right then with the information I got from person in charge of the event. They were only made aware of the event shortly before I called them.
This was Deja Vu all over again for the at least 5th time in the past two years as it happened before when each Argentina, Bayern Munich, the Red Bull’s and The Junior La Liga championships were here, staying at the W, hosting events and playing on our field.  Each time I asked Director Leo Pellegrini why these major events are not advertised to Hoboken residents and his response each time was the teams advertise to their fans.  I raise how these events would be attractive to Hoboken residents as well and, if marketed properly, could bring people into Hoboken to support our struggling businesses. Crickets.  Also, each time I point out that I am a council member and even I don't know about these until I see them as coincidentally I walk or ride by!!!!

PSS - I have raised this repeatedly with the City and I know they are now working to proactively change this going forward. The fact that the major global futball clubs CHOOSE Hoboken is a HUGE opportunity for our community.  Hopefully next time we will have better notice so more of us can attend.
