HALSEY MCKAY GALLERY
GLEN BALDRIDGE | KILLER MOON August 7 - 24, 2014
Opening reception: Sunday, August 10, 1 - 4 pm

Halsey McKay is pleased to present Killer Moon, Glen Baldridge’s first solo exhibition with the gallery. Building upon his sui generis combination of photography, drawing, and printmaking, Killer Moon presents a series of pictures derived from images shot at night with a game camera and a totemic glowing sculpture. Automatically triggered by wind, insects, and otherwise unseen forces of the night, the subsequent photos are screenprinted onto sheets of graphite-covered watercolored paper. The graphite is erased away to reveal the image amid the painted watercolor ground, evoking night vision and other haunting glows. Ideas about surveillance, paranoia, and the supernatural are implied but so too are the visions of teenage partiers who find themselves in the woods, but not too far afield from their mowed suburban lawns.

Glen Baldridge was born in Great Falls, Montana and graduated from the Rhode Island School of Design in 1999. He currently lives and works in Brooklyn, NY. Recent solo exhibitions have been with Klaus Von Nichtsaggend Gallery, New York, NY;  Fouteen30 Contemporary, Portland, OR and Guerrero Gallery, San Francisco, CA. His work is held in many public and private collections including the Museum of Modern Art, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Whitney Museum of American Art, the New York Public Library, the Yale University Art Gallery, and the RISD Museum. Baldridge is co-owner and founder of Forth Estate Editions. Baldridge is also represented by Klaus Von Nichtsaggend Gallery in New York.
