NEW - M 400 series "Generation 4"
Last monthMicrotech Gefell announced the new M 400 series of small diaphragm capacitor microphones - "Generation 4".
Having the same diameter at the SMS 2000 and M 300 series, the new M 400 series are much smaller. In addition, the new series has interchangeable microphone heads and a choice of two bodies.
At launch there are a choice of four microphone heads: M 40 (cardioid), M 41 (super-cardioid), M 42 (omni-directional) and M 43 (wide cardioid / hypo-cardioid).
The two optional bodies are: MV 400X (standard body with an XLR connector) and MV 400L (shorter body with a LEMO connector - for where size is a premium).
Although the new series has the same diameter as the M 300 series (which will continue) it is much shorter; The M 400X (M 40 + MV 400X) is about one-third shorter than the M 300 and the M 400L (M 40 + MV 400L) is almost half the size.
The new series is very flexible, as you can choose the microphone head and body that most suits what you are doing - also - this is just the start, new items are planned for the future including (we hope): microphone heads with nickel capsules, remote extension cables, etc...
