Dear Friends and Comrades,

SA'S CAPITAL PRETORIA/ TSHWANE ALSO TWINNED WITH PALESTINIAN TOWN
In 1999, breaking away with Apartheid South Africa's military and nuclear collaboration with Israel during the 1980s,  South Africa's capital city, Pretoria/Tshwane became the first South African city to twin with a Palestinian town, the town of Bethlehem. Click here for more info on the Holy Town of Bethlehem.

CITY OF CAPE TOWN SHOULD END ISRAELI RELATIONS
The Israeli Government, it is well known, collaborated with Apartheid South Africa. Part of that collaboration included the 1975 City of Cape Town twinning with the Israeli City of Haifa. The City of Cape Town should follow the lead of the City of Johannesburg, end its relations with Israel and twin instead with a Palestinian city. Click here to write to the Mayor of CT.

EASTERN CAPE: PALESTINE FILM SCREENING WITH STEVE BIKO FOUNDATION
This Monday (23 March) the Steve Biko Foundation will host a screening of the Palestine film “Roadmap To Apartheid”  followed by a public dialogue with BDS South Africa. The event takes place at 17h30 at the Steve Biko centre (1 Zotshie Street, Ginsberg, King William's Town). Click here for more info.

"We are proud of the modest technical assistance that our South African government is offering Palestine...but the various discussions with our counterparts in Palestine are an indication that we can do more."

CITY OF JOHANNESBURG TWINS WITH PALESTINIAN CITY OF RAMALLAH
South Africa's economic hub, the City of Johannesburg, should be commended for its recent twinning agreement and signing of a memorandum of cooperation with that of the Palestinian City of Ramallah. The twinning with a city of an oppressed people should be viewed as an expression of our solidarity as South Africans with the people of Palestine.

As part Human Rights Month and celebrating the twinning between Johannesburg and Ramallah, the Office of the Executive Mayor of Johannesburg has rolled out a series of public events with various stakeholders including BDS South Africa, the Palestinian Embassy and others. See below or click here for more information on the City of Joburg Palestine Freedom Week event details.
