Stop the Leith Hill oil drilling!

Hello to all our supporters

Many of you will have received a letter in the last few days from Surrey County Council regarding a new planning application.  I have been approached by many of you seeking guidance as to what this application means.  Thank you for your ongoing passionate attentiveness about this drilling.

The new application essentially seeks to amend the planning application that the Planning Inspector approved following the Public Inquiry held last year.  It seeks permission for the erection of high security fencing all around the site and the addition of buildings at the entry to the site.  In all, the site area would be materially increased and it would now be visible from Coldharbour Lane.

Leaving aside these issues, however, we have serious concerns relating to the very manner in which this amendment is being sought.  As such, we have contacted Surrey County Council to raise these concerns and seek an urgent response.

Once this response has been given, we will be able to advise you regarding our views on the application.  Until then, however, we must ask you to be patient.  Responses are currently sought by 28th October and we will be sure to come back to you again in good time for you to meet this deadline.
Yours

Patrick Nolan
