Huntsville Town Hotline
In this Hotline:
Gazette
There was a slight mix up in the January issue of the Gazette and my previous months submission was included instead of this months submission. A couple of items are quite important and time sensitive, so I will pass them on electronically. Please share the information with neighbors and friends.
Ramp Grant
The town council is in the process of submitting a grant request for the 2007 disbursement of the R.A.M.P. grant. In 2006, Huntsville received $16,000 for park improvements which are currently in progress.
For some background, RAMP stands for Recreation, Arts, Museums Parks and was a grant established by Weber County voters in 2005 through an increase in sales tax (1 penny on a $10 purchase). Approximately $3M annually is available to distribute throughout the county.
RAMP was created to fund projects such as:
We are in the process of compiling potential projects, so if you have any ideas or suggestions be sure to contact one of the council members or email council@HuntsvilleTown.com before January 15th.
Snow Plowing
It is that time of year again and we are asking for your help so we can keep the streets plowed. The town has an ordinance that requires all vehicles, trailers, etc. to be off town streets from 4 am until 12:00 noon on snow days. This is especially important in the commercial district so we can remove snow before it gets packed and impossible to remove. Thanks in advance for your help with this matter. If you are a landlord, please share the information with your tenants.
Ice Rink
Over the next week or two we will be constructing the ice rink (in fact, I just got in from putting the first layer of H2O on it). The first couple of weeks are critical in order to create smooth ice, so we plead for your help in keeping vehicles, Snowmobiles and four wheelers off the rink. It may seem intriguing and innocent, but tracks on fresh ice really set us back. Parents, please coach your kids in this regard.
Also, volunteer rink builders of any age are always welcome. The rink is usually sprayed nightly, so either stop by the rink or contact Councilman Sorensen. Fireman wannabies are always welcome and will be trained gratis in many firefighting skills such as water and hose management.
Upcoming meetings
The town council meetings for 2007 will be held the first and third Tuesday of the month at 7:00 PM (instead of Thursday). More info is available at:
All are welcome and invited to attend.
Happy New Year
We hope you had a wonderful Holiday season and wish you a Happy and Prosperous New Year.
That’s all for now, have a great week.
Sincerely,
Richard L. Sorensen
