The next Digital Imaging Group Meeting will be on Monday 10 August at 7.30pm.
Meetings are informal and take place at the clubrooms and via zoom.
If you would like to share your images at the June meeting, please send them to me at dig@bristolphoto.org.uk ideally by Friday 7 August.
If you attended the practical evening for our photo walk around Montpelier on Mon 13th, it would be great to see some of your favourite images taken that evening.
Please number your images in the order you would like them to be viewed and resize to the usual competition size, not essential but helps to keep the files to a manageable size. If you could please restrict the number of images to a maximum of 30 this will ensure that we enjoy a wide variety of subjects.
I look forward to receiving your images.
Rachel Domleo.

PAGB Interclub PDI Competition |
Below is a report from Mike Martin on the recent PAGB Interclub PDI Competition held at Warwick last weekend.
So close! After the first two rounds of 8 images form 47 clubs, BPS had a total of 181 points, placing us joint 16th well short of the cut off (193) to get into the top 8 clubs and the top club on 203 points! Scoring had been low; anyway it was difficult to read the judges’ likes and dislikes other than some insects and sport doing particularly well and portraits comparatively poorly. There was a lot of dance images, and these tended to do either very well or quite badly, with little to differentiate between them. There were some surprises with Catchlight, Arden, Dumfries all similarly failing to make the top 8!
So, we entered the Plate competition – another 8 images, no more than two per author, no more than two nature, and a minimum of 4 completely new images. Sadly we didn’t quite make it. We scored 96, an improvement on rounds 1 & 2, ending in 4th position just 3 points below the Plate winners, Carluke CC (99), Bridgend (98) and Colchester (97)!
Thanks to everyone who made images available for selection, now we just need to qualify again via the WCFP Inter Club competition for next year!
Mike

Simon Caplan’s abstract image “Rust Never Sleeps” - previously a finalist in the International ‘Close-Up Photographer of the Year’ contest – has been awarded a Commended in the Annual Members’ Exhibition of the Royal Photographic Society’s Creative Eye Group. The image is a macro shot of part of a sheet of rusting metal stored at Underfall Yard on Bristol Harbour. The image may be familiar to members as our very own Sandie Cox awarded it a Highly Commended when she judged a round of the club’s bi-monthly DPI competition last year. Simon says: ”Rust Never Sleeps" is one of my favourite and most successful abstract images and it’s a great accolade to get a Commended for it in this RPS Group’s annual exhibition. Needless to say, he's pretty chuffed!

Salon acceptances: Contrary to popular belief, I do not possess psychic powers and need you to tell me if you've had successes. If you want to blow your own trumpet (or someone else's), then this is the place to do it. Please let me know and I'll include details in a future issue.
|
If you have any photographic items for sale, drop me a line and I'll include them in the next newsletter. Please make sure that you provide contact details, price and full description of the sale items (pictures always help).
|
IMPORTANT: Personal Detail Changes |
Please don't forget that if you change your
address (home or email), or gain additional photographic distinctions,
it would be appreciated if you could let the Membership Secretary know
so that she can keep her records up to date, this will also ensure that
you continue to receive your newsletters - please email all changes to membership@bristolphoto.org.uk.
The distinctions we have on record are those
shown at the top of this newsletter, please remember, if you don't tell
us we can't possibly know!
DO NOT REPLY TO THE NEWSLETTER. |
