Monday
William Byron started the 2024 Cup Series season by winning the Daytona 500. But it didn't come without controversy. The No. 24 was narrowly ahead of his HMS teammate, Alex Bowman, when a caution came out at the start of the white-flag lap. Unfortunately, the Fox cameras didn't provide a clear view of the winner during the broadcast. Click to see analysis.
After attending last year's 500, I heard plenty of fans complaining about too many commercials. So this year while watching it from home, I tracked all of the commercials during the broadcast. My data includes all of the commercial breaks, total number of ads, and green-flag laps missed. It also identifies the most-frequent advertiser in the race. Check out the story

Tuesday

Denny Hamlin talked about the Daytona 500 on his Actions Detrimental podcast, but that's not what made headlines. The 23XI Racing co-owner revealed a team owners meeting held on Saturday before the race where they had hoped to talk to NASCAR CEO Jim France about charter negotiations, but he declined to attend. The two sides don't appear close and Hamlin calling out the CEO won't help. Click to read the story

Wednesday
Dale Earnhardt Jr. had fellow NASCAR Hall of Famer Ray Evernham on the Dale Jr. Download. The three-time Cup Series championship-winning crew chief  surprised Junior when he revealed a secret alliance between Dale Sr. and Jeff Gordon that lasted for years.

Evernham also talked about the future of IROC and, for the first time publicly, talked about his SRX departure. Click to read story.

Thursday

Joey Logano was introduced on NASCAR Race Hub as the first Thursday guest driver of the season. The Team Penske driver talked about his rivalries and what the future possibly looks like after he steps away from racing. The two-time champ also shockingly revealed that the first time he ever drove a Cup Series car was at age 14. He went over 200 mph and track officials were pissed. Click to read the story
