Site Changes for the 2018 Festival
To #ourNFF community:
We want you to be the first to know. We've been listening to you all and in 2018 we're going to make some changes. Since redesigning the entertainment zone in 2013 we began to receive concerns about various aspects of the layout between the Quokka and Majestic and the area directly behind the grandstand. Every year we have moved things around and put a range of measures in place to address these concerns but this area is not very flexible. Finally, after much feedback from you following our 2017 Festival we think it is time for a major shift. We are moving the entertainment zone back towards the Fitzroy end of the site.

We believe this will provide greater flexibility, be a more healthy, dust free area with more grass and, bring the entertainment zone closer to gate 7 which is now our main entrance. It will also alleviate the sound spill problems that have been evident between the Piazza and the Lyric. We will also regain the bitumen area behind the grandstand to use for disability parking giving our patrons with special needs a safe place to park with easy access to the entertainment zone.

For our dancers we are looking at a three year plan to reinstate a third dance venue which we know many of you have missed over the past years. Because our dance floors need some tlc the first stage will be to make the Piazza a larger and more versatile venue so that we can extend its programming for 2018.
In the meantime, we intend to bring the dance floors back onto site once we have sourced suitable storage. This will allow us to better manage what is required to bring them up to par.

Our aim is to manage and effect this move with care and consideration for all attendees and we will keep you all up to date as plans unfold.

Stalls Applications Open 1 August

The National Folk Festival is seeking stallholders who will contribute to the village atmosphere of the Festival and, who will support our creative community and sustainable initiatives. Our proposed new site layout will give us the opportunity to increase lighting, decorations and seating, so get ready for some great innovations in 2018!
We are looking for food and drink stalls, and market stalls selling handmade or global wares, body products and other interesting items. While we are always looking for something new, fresh and interesting we also want to hear from our regular favourites.
Some gaps we’d love to fill include a pasta food stall and stalls offering family friendly meals. Spread the word!
If you have a favourite market stall that you would love to see at the Festival please direct them to our website from 1 August.
The application process has had some changes this year so, if you are applying for a stall please ensure you read all information on the website before completing an application. All enquiries should be directed to
