Autumn is on the way and I am so excited. The tomatoe vines are heavy with fruit, the leaves just starting to turn, the sunlight deepening into that sensuous golden I so love. It is time to make Dia De Los Muertos
altars, stack wood for the winter and settle into the studio for some serious mixing sessions on my album, accompanied, of course, by a nice cup of tea.
But before we do that, there are more shows happening as well as some fun news...
I would like to invite you to wish the "new" EP, Truth, Love & Understanding,
a very Happy First Birthday!
Yes, it was one year ago when that little one was released. If you don't yet have your copy, this might be a nice time to get one. The three song album and collectors item (limited edition! one run only with not many left!) features Robby & Char Rothschild of Round Mountain
on African Kora and Accordion, respectively, as well as all-original gorgeously intricate artwork by Elizabeth Jonasson
. The third song on the album, Togetherness
is inspired by Khalil Gibran
's writings on marriage, and I think you will find the entire recording to be inspiring and uplifting. All songs are written & performed by Amanda West and Pete Solomon. You can get your copy by writing to me, (just reply to this email), or by coming to one of the upcoming live shows
The other super nifty news
is that Amanda West Music was recently written up
in an alternative health blog called "Own Your Health." The article focuses on the underlying reason of WHY I make music - its healing powers. Check it out here: www.ownyourhealth.wordpress.com
. Many many thanks to Roanne Weisman
for her interest, time, and the interview. I am honored!
And last but not least
, we must not forget more fabulous shows on the way. I am particularly excited about next Tuesday
, being the featured performer at the Red Devil Lounge in San Francisco.
I told them I'd bring lots of people, so you should come!
And then on Thursday,
Pete Solomon & I will be doing our Solomon-West electronic-indie-folk-world-jazz loopdy-duo at Shivani Rajan
's latest art opening
, this one entitled "Erotic Vegetables"
. How you can miss that?!
Hope to see you at one of those or elsewhere soon. Don't forget to wish "Truth, Love & Understanding" a Happy Birthday, and please enjoy the beginnings of fall and this time of momentary balance among the celestial bodies....
