NEWS & ADVENTURES of a Philosophical Folk Songstress                              ~ February 2011
Hello my Friend!
I hope 2011 is treating you well so far. Here in California we had a lovely burst of early spring where all the plum trees bloomed at once with intoxicating displays of pink and white. Now, the rains have returned and we're bundling up for a bit more winter while dreaming of the spring & summer still to come.
Been working on the year's calendar lining up shows here and there. Coming next week is a visit to Sebastapol to be a featured act in the weekly Ladies Lime Light at the beloved Aubergine After Dark. In March, Pete Solomon & I offer music for some spiritual services around the bay (details below).
At the end of March, I'm organizing a fundraiser/guitar drive at the Crepe Place in Santa Cruz. The evening will benefit the Guitar Teach program of Mariposa's Art, a non-profit which offers art & music to underprivileged communities around Santa Cruz County. Featured acts will be Michael Gaither, The Juncos, Amanda West, and one or two others TBA. So pull that dusty old guitar out of your closet and come donate it to an aspiring young musician! (more details below).
Later in the Spring we return to the Central Coast for a few shows around SLO, and then a visit to the East Bay area for the Two-Day-Town Music Festival. This summer, we head north to Oregon & Washington to visit our Pacific Northwest friends! In August, VERY exciting, we have the return of WOMANSONG at the Big Sur Spirit Garden with a fantastic line up of amazing women artists. Yay! So save this date: Sat August 20th.
I've been told that a few of you missed the release of my EP with Pete Solomon this past Fall. Check it out! It's a sweet 3-song recording encircling themes of desire, commitment and blissful aspects of love, called "Truth, Love & Understanding." Only $5.
One of the local places here in Santa Cruz that has carried my first solo album, "The Way to the Water", will soon be closing its doors. Gateways Books & Gifts has been a cornerstone of our community and a wonderful supporter of the arts. I encourage you to drop in and say goodbye if you haven't already, and take advantage of all the closing sales. We will miss you Gateways!
Alongside everything else in life, I am continuing work on my second solo album. This one seems to be a long labor. However, recording is moving along and soon we can start mixing... At least this rainy weather is good for all that! I'll give you something just to tide you over for now... the album is be called "The Permission Tree".

Thanks for trooping along with my music adventures. I look forward to seeing you again soon this year, whether it be around here in Santa Cruz, on the Central Coast, Pacific Northwest, Big Sur, or somewhere yet to be announced... Thanks for sharing the journey! Take good care of yourself,
~ in Peace, Love & Music
