Summer is in full swing in the Colorado high country! Festivals, rafting, hiking, mountain climbing, biking, fishing, ATV and jeeping are just some of the exciting summertime activities in Fourteener Country. Where will your adventure take you?

Here are a few of the things coming up in June.

Buena Vista Bike Fest
The century route is the cornerstone of the Buena Vista Bike Fest. You will take in the outstanding views of Colorado’s highest mountain peaks while enjoying the sunshine of the Arkansas River Valley.
This is an ideal warm up for your summer riding season and it's only a 2 hour drive from the Front Range to Buena Vista!

Date: June 6th
Time: 7am-5pm
Location: All routes start and finish at McPhelemy Park
Registration: online registration is open now

Sweet Roots Music Festival
The Sweet Roots Festival evolved from the shared vision of 1% For Women and the Farmers Femme. Together we are raising awareness around the importance of supporting women in agriculture! The proceeds from the festival ensure that we will be back in 2016, and also fund training for women in agriculture around the world through 1% For Women.

By simply dancing away a day in the mountains you can create a ripple effect that will break the cycles of poverty and oppression that still affect so many. Inside the festival you will find the Sweet Roots Village. The Village will consist of organizations, businesses and individuals representing everything you need to know about farming, organic produce, supporting producers in your area, getting involved, buying seeds to get your garden under way and more.

Date: June 6th
Time: 11am-10pm
Location: Buena Vista, CO town soccer fields

Collegiate Peaks Stampede Rodeo
With origins dating back to 1922, the Collegiate Peaks Stampede Rodeo is one of the oldest rodeos in the state. This award-winning rodeo is a great experience for the entire family.

Long-time rodeo stock contractor Glen Southwick provides the stock. His bucking horses and bulls are athletes bred specifically for the sport, are gently cared for like family, spend the off-season at home on his ranch, and eat very well. Southwick’s calves and sheep used in roping and mutton bustin’ events are each only used once per rodeo and only take part in two rodeos during the one season they participate. After their brief rodeo careers, they return to the ranch to continue their placid lives as cows and sheep.

Date: June 13-14
Time: all day
Location: Buena Vista Rodeo Grounds

FIBArk - America's Oldest & Boldest Whitewater Festival
Every year in June during the Arkansas River runoff in Salida, Colorado, a festival occurs called FIBArk or “First In Boating the Arkansas.”

This year marks the 67th anniversary of FIBArk. Located in Salida's historic downtown, Riverside Park is the center of FIBArk activity and entertainment. Food, arts and crafts, and industry vendors are available, as well as a beer tent, a carnival, and a state-of-the art amphitheater for this year's extraordinary musical line-up.

Date: June 18-21
Location: Riverside Park, Salida

Ride the Rockies
Since 1986 Ride the Rockies has been Colorado's premier bicycle tour. The route changes every year in order to appreciate the many varied and beautiful landscapes the Rocky Mountains have to offer.

In its 30th year, RTR will visit two natural wonders in the Colorado National Monument and the Grand Mesa, ascend Cottonwood and Hardscrabble Pass, travel over the highest suspension bridge in the U.S. and traverse along the Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park.

On Day 5, June 18th, riders descend Cottonwood Pass, travel through Buena Vista on their way to Salida.

Dates: June 14-20
Location: Starts in Fruita, Ends in Westcliffe, 465 total miles

The route travels through Buena Vista, Salida, Leadville, and some of Colorado's most scenic areas.
