Incredible India 2012, Nov 2-19
Dharmic Pursuits and Spiritual Pilgrimage
Vacation with Purpose!

Absorb and experience teachings of spirituality and self improvement guiding you to transform your heart and soul with this upcoming pilgrimage to Incredible India.
Dear friends,
I warmly invite you to consider joining me for a 17 day tantric sojourn:

YOGA and AYURVEDA to northern India Nov 2-19, 2012
This is the year of MERCURY, the planetary vibration that is always wandering, searching for more education and higher and better ways to enrich the soul.  2012 is a precious time of deep change, global unity awakening and divine mystery.  Everyone feels this "quickening" in their own way.  A time to occupy our hearts, our dharma, our most intuitive and ancient consciousness to be the manifestations of light we were meant to be.
As a personalized pilgrimage of such magnitude takes a lot of time and preparation, you may wish to ponder, especially if this is a long time calling, so consider it NOW.  Answer the call!

November is a lovely calm/warm time (our time of darkness in the western hemisphere), daytime in the 20's, nites cool but no frost, and more attention can be given to our group.  Jan - April is high season and often chaotic and crowded.  I have tried different times and seasons, and prefer late fall.
This is a spiritually based journey and not a tourist trip.  The amount of 'sightseeing' will be plenty and all purposeful to visit historic and energetically charged places, temples, towns, venues.  It is a tribute to the ancient lineage of the Vedic Sciences.  Most of our travel will be along the Ganges.

Let me know if you are interested. Network if you feel motivated.

Om Shanti!
Christina Richa Devi.
Ganges - The Sacred River

When the stream of love flows in its full strength, it purifies all that stands in its way, as the Ganges - according to the teaching of the ancients - purifies all those who plunge into its sacred waters.

Water Down the Ganges (Prem Joshua & Manish Vyas)

"True happiness is in love, which is the stream that springs from one's soul.  He who will allow this stream to run continually in all conditions of life, in all situations, however difficult, will have a happiness which truly belongs to him, the source of which is not without, but within.  If there is a constant outpouring of love one becomes a divine fountain, for from the depth of the fountain rises the stream and, on its return, it pours upon the fountain, bathing it continually.  It is a divine bath, the true bath in the Ganges, the sacred river."
Haridwar and Rishikesh

Haridwar, the holiest amongst the ancient hindu towns is 173km (107 miles) 5 car hours, north of Delhi. It is a temple-filled town where the Ganges emerges from the Himalayan mountains and is considered very sacred by Hindus.

You will be accommodated in the spacious, safe, clean, walled in home (some Western style bathrooms/hot water), of my teacher's family by the Ganges in the holy city of Haridwar, and Seema Johari, his daughter and our hired professional co ordinator, will see to your every need.

Johari House / Yoga observing the Ganges in Haridwar

India is the Mother land of Yoga and Ayurveda and to be in the house of a tantric lineage is a high honor and profound opportunity for awakening your dharmic/karmic consciousness. This is much more personable and intimate than being in a tourist hotel.
Read more about Shri Harish Johari, my tantric mentor for ten years.
Our time will be spent studying the vedic sciences of Yoga, Tantric cosmology, Ayurveda, asanas on the roof top, some ayurvedic herbal healing, nutrition and cooking classes and exploring local treatment facilities.  In between our outings and classes, we will have rest and meditation times, aiming for a good wholesome balance so we stay healthy and can drink deep from the well.
We will be visiting the sacred area of Kankal, the famous, ancient Shiva temple with a huge Mercury Lingam, make offerings to the Ganges, Mansa Devi, we will take a cable car to the top, Goddess Peethas, Gayatri university Shanti Khunj, the temple of the much loved saint Shri Anandamaye Ma, the remote Santoshpuri ashram for Yoga and Ayurveda instructions, various ashrams in Rishikesh like Shivananda, the Vashistas cave north of Rishikesh, where we will also take a ritual bath in the still unpolluted Ganges (being far north),  and if possible the world famous Patanjali Yoga and Ayurveda college
as well as a few shopping excursions to a variety of artisans where you may have custom tailored clothing fashioned inexpensively.
The main ghat or sacred bathing spot at Haridwar is known as Har Ki Paudi (venerated for a footprint of Lord Vishnu on a stone in a wall).  Mythology has it that this is the place where a drop of Amrita (a sacred nectar that grants immortality) was accidentally spilled over from Kumbh, the holy pitcher.

A highlight of the pilgrimage will be our visit to the sacred, enormous cave of the sage Vashista where the epic Yoga Vashista was conceived.

All outings are by private taxi and or rickshaws and boats as is applicable for the area.

A more detailed, day to day itinerary will be available once your application has been accepted and deposit received.

Extensions can be arranged to suit.

We are happy to help!
Preparation for the Trip

India is a land of extremes. Wherever you go there is a tremendous spiritual infusion and opulence, yet also hair raising squalor and poverty.  You see the Leela (divine play) of samsara unfold every minute of your stay.
"The belief in reincarnation shows us that there is some kind of ultimate justice or goodness in the Universe.  It is that goodness that we are all trying to uncover and to free.  Whenever we act positively, we move toward it; whenever we act negatively, we obscure and inhibit it.  And, whenever we cannot express it in our lives and actions, we feel miserable and frustrated and never fulfilled until we yield to our deepest calling to satisfy the souls yearning."
Good overall health, psychological resilience and a curious, humble, open hearted attitude are a necessity for all participants as well as a willingness to adhere to the yamas and niyamas, the foundation of Yoga.  The aim of our daily sadhana, within the context of  following yama and niyama, is to learn to help us to find our way to blessedness, to the divinity, to truth.  If this is done, then this brings liberation and avoids millions of lifetimes where one suffers in ignorance.  This, together with Yoga and Ayurveda, is the most important guidance regarding lifestyle in our human life.

What are the Yamas & Niyamas?

The Yamas & Niyamas are yoga's ten ethical guidelines and comprise the first two limbs of Yoga's eight-fold path.  They are the foundation of skillful living.

The Yamas include:

Ahimsa ~ Nonviolence
Satya ~ Truthfulness
Asteya ~ Nonstealing
Brahmacharya ~ Nonexcess
Aparigraha ~ Nonpossessiveness

And the Niyamas include:

Saucha ~ Purity
Santosha ~ Contentment
Tapas ~ Self-discipline
Svadhyaya ~ Self-study
