Peonies love the sun and once established they will thrive undisturbed for many years.  There are only three reasons that a peony plant does not flower once it is established in your yard. First, you have it planted in too much shade. Peonies are a full sun plant. Two, you have it planted too deep. The eyes must get cold to set blooms in the ground.  We have them planted correctly for Oklahoms, the eyes need to be within an inch of the surface. Do not put mulch around peonies during the winter. And last, you should plant varieties that are early or midseason bloomers. The weather in Oklahoma can get very hot and windy by the time late blooming varieties are ready to open and they get to hot to open correctly.

Below are some of the varieties we have potted and ready to sell:

                                              Lychnis Pette Jenny
This is a plant we have not carried for several years and it is in full bloom in Green house number two. This is an easy to grow full sun plant.  See image below:

                                                                         Geums
This is another plant in full bloom in green house number two. It will grow in full sun but may benefit from some afternoon shade. Blooms at 12 to 18 inches and is a very pretty foliage plant after the bright blooms are gone.

                                                         Gauras
We grow two varieties of this plant....Rosey Jane that has a two tone flower  and Wiskers Rose that has a dark pink flower and red foliage. Both grow in full sun and need a minimum amount of water after they are established.

                                              Rosey Jane                        Wiskers  Rose

                                                                        Hostas
Our hostas are up and ready to sell. We grow about 75 varieties. they are shade plants in central Oklahoma. Keep them well watered as most people grow them under trees here and the trees are themselves heavy users of water. Below is a
picture of our hosta house.

                                              Goldheart Bleeding hearts
This is one of my favorite shade plants. Bright gold foliage and bright pink flowers in the spring. Another good point is that the foliage is pretty frost proof. Find this plant in bothe one one four greenhouses.

                                                      Hardy Hibiscus

Most of our hardy hibiscus are starting to come up now. We will sell any and all that have growing shoots coming up from the containers. Find them in Greenhouse number TWO.

Fireball                                    Texas Star                  Summer in Paradaise

                                                                                        Clematis
For the first time in many years we have started growing clematis. They are planted and are for sale. We have six or 8 varieties. Find them in green houise number two.  Below see some of the images. clematis should be planted so they get shade on the root syetem but sun on the plant so mulch the base to keep the ground cooler.

                                                                        Daylilies
We have somewhere around 20 varieties of daylilies potted and ready to sell as is. Below is a small sample of what is potted. Find these plants in green house number two. There is a limited number of each variety potted. It will cost more to go out in the garden and dig any of these varieties so make your selections early.

                                                  Glow Girl Spirea
This is a shrub we picked up last year and the foliage is just beautiful. It is labeled to grow in full sun but here in central Oklahoma I recommend groing it in afternoon shade or even in the hosta garden. See image below.

                                Sambuscus Lemony Lace  and Blacklace
These are two really cool plants also. Find Blacklace in the number three green house. It has black lacy foliage that will thrive in the sun and it has pink flowers. Lemony Lace should be grown in a more shady area, maybe with your hostas. Itt has the most beautiful gold, lacy foliage. Find it in number four green hopuse with our hostas and ferns. See images below:

                                                                          Althea
We have many varieties of althea, or rose of sharon available for pickup. They have been our most popular flowering shrub the last three years. Althea will bloom from June until frost and com in a variety of colors. Below are just a few of the ones we have for sale in gree house number three.

                                                                       Dianthus

We grow several varieties of Dianthus. This is a very easy, full sun plant to grow. It requires very little water and can be used as a rock garden plant. Below are the varieties we offer:

                                                 Dryland Plants
Our Clarent Cup cactus shown below with the orange flowers, are starting to bloom. They are spectular in bloom and require no water after being started.
We have much of our dryland plant display up. These are cactus, yucca and other very dryland plants. They require almost no water once established. Below are samples of what we carry:

This is just a small fraction of the new plants we are carrying this spring. You will have fun walking through the green houses this spring. the plants mentioned in this bulletin are ready for sale now.

We are still getting shipments of plants every week now and hope to have the greenhouses full in the next few weeks. This is the busiest time of the year for us, getting the plants planted and fertilized and arranged in the green houses in the right places. some of these plants are very hard to find in the nursery trade so we will mention them soon so you will know they are here.

We want to remind everyone to bring any unwanted containers to the nursery any time you are out this way. Set them off at the parking sign and we will move them. We recycle them over and over and it helps hold our prices down.
