R.A.’s Stories of Recovery RevealedRA
We are using this newsletter to introduce stories from our latest addition to R.A.'s Suggested Literature, R.A.'s Stories of Recovery Revealed. After many years of work, the full PDF version of this new book is now available. You can download it from the "R.A.'s Books" page on R.A.'s website.RA
The stories in R.A.'s Stories of Recovery Revealed were initially published in this newsletter years ago. Unfortunately, due to space limitations, some were abridged. In addition, the number of people reading this newsletter has tripled. Therefore, this will be the first opportunity many people will have to read the full versions of these stories.RA
R.A.'s Stories of Recovery Revealed contains the stories of R.A. members. These accounts follow the same structure used by the program's creators—the pioneers—in their original stories. In these new stories, R.A. members describe in a general way, what they used to be like, how they found R.A., how they worked all Twelve Steps, and what they are like now.RA
In R.A., we hope that R.A.'s Stories of Recovery Revealed will inspire its readers to go through R.A.'s Step Presentation. They will thoroughly follow all of the pioneers' "clear-cut directions." They will fully work all Twelve Steps. They will recover. We believe that R.A.'s Stories of Recovery Revealed is a valuable addition to R.A.'s Suggested Literature.

An R.A. Recovery Story

Adear friend introduced me to Recoveries Anonymous, and I have not looked back. She shared her recovery experience in the fellowship with me. R.A. is not my first fellowship. Like many of you reading this I have worked the steps in other fellowships before taking them in R.A.RA

When I first started working with the R.A. literature, I was overwhelmed. However, I did not let it deter me from going through R.A.'s Step Presentation and working all Twelve Steps. I knew if I put my heart and soul into this R.A. program I would have nothing to lose.RA
R.A.'s "clear-cut directions" for The Daily Quiet Time have been and continue to be my saving grace. They can be found in R.A.'s Newcomer Guide on page 8. Reading them helped me to connect with G-d and with myself.RA
"I was always rushing: rushing to work, rushing from one job to another. Not that I got more money for rushing. I forced myself to read R.A.'s "clear-cut directions" for The Daily Quiet Time before leaving the house. This changed my life. The three minutes it would take to read it turned into one and a half hours dedicated to prayer and meditation.RA
"R.A.'s "clear-cut directions" for The Daily Quiet Time can be read at any time of the day. I find prayer, and meditation works best for me in the morning. I feel that I have a more authentic relationship with G-d, with myself, and with those around me. It is an awesome experience.RA

"Expect a Miracle" is written at the bottom of the first page of R.A.'s Newcomer Guide. I remember when someone phoned me to tell me about her experience with being in R.A. She kept speaking of the miracles that she had experienced in her first six months in R.A. I listened intently. I did not really understand this word, miracle. RA
R.A.'s Newcomer Guide says to "Except a Miracle." I opened myself up to that possibility, although I felt I didn't really know what it meant. I have now experienced many miracles in this program. They started when I was in R.A. less than six months, and the miracles keep coming.RA
R.A.'s Daily Quiet Time allowed me to embrace prayer and meditation. I have learned that this is an important part of keeping the recovery that I have been given.RA

(This story is continued in the next section of this newsletter.)RA
My behavior regarding money had always been insane. I was under earning, going into debt, and not managing my finances in a healthy way. I was always creating dramas around money. I was overworking and being underpaid. My debts were significant.RA

After nine months in R.A., because of the miracles I have received in this program, with the help of G-d, I have cleared up most of my debts. I feel like a new person. It is a relief not to have those debts weighing on my mind. God continues to work miracles in my life. Only two large debts remain. My goal, by the grace of God, is to complete payments on them by the end of the year.RA
I could not have come this far without G-d and the R.A. Fellowship. I know that if I want to keep my recovery, I must work with others, whether face-to-face, on the phone, or by Skype.RA
God has really done for me what I could just barely dream of doing for myself.RA
One of the promises of the program has come true for me. It says, "Fear of people and of economic insecurity will leave you."RA

I gave up five hours of work per week to attend a face-to-face R.A. meeting. This was a leap of faith on my part. I know the value of attending face-to-face meetings. My work was taking over my life. It was taking four or more hours of travel time, this left me no time to breathe. I had no balance between work and the rest of my life.RA
After going through R.A.'s Step Presentation, and fully working all Twelve Steps, I have been restored to sanity. I have followed my direction and guidance to cut back on my work. I now spend three days at one job, and one afternoon with another. I have free time to be creative and pursue my real goals.RA
I am now living in Steps Ten, Eleven, and Twelve. I do this by following R.A.'s "clear-cut directions" for The Daily Quiet Time every day, and by working with others. I have learned that this is vital to maintaining my sanity, and staying recovered. I continue to be in complete gratitude to G-d for all he has given me.RA
