Family Ministry
(a) Ministry is important, but because good ministry should produce solid family, believers have an obligation from God to never put their ministry above their family. Eph. 5:25 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;
(b) Men in our society measure themselves by the job they have, the car they drive, and the money they possess. But God measures men and women by their commitment to him and to the next generation. God is a father and an example of how to care for family, and so if we are to be like him, we should successfully protect, provide for, and minister to our families first before we ever go out and pursue greater ministry responsibilities. 1Tim. 6:5 Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself. But godliness with contentment is great gain.
(c) God created the family first to bring glory to himself. Because God is the ministry and the ministry is not ours personally, we owe it to him to bring him glory through the family first, instead of through our ministry first. Gen. 5:2 Male and female created he them; and blessed them, and called their name Adam, in the day when they were created. |
