A Cautionary Tale

At 9.45pm on Sunday night I was travelling from Newport to Elvina Bay in my well lit tinny. Abeam Church Point I met an unlit vessel travelling from Church Point in a northerly direction. By some miracle I missed the other boat which was low in the water and virtually invisible. I do understand that there are times that batteries fail and there is an urgent need to get home. But no torch? No emergency light? No smart phone with a torch? No lookout to starboard to check for another boat?

Life is precious and Sunday night may have been the end of days for one of us.

PLEASE: At least put a $2 LED torch in your boat just in case.
