New In The Shop

Shetland Wool Week is a global celebration of the Shetland Island's textile heritage, bringing together makers through knitting, spinning, exhibitions, and community events. Every year, the Shetland Guild releases a new Wool Week Hat Design to both celebrate Shetland's knitting traditions and to raise funds for the Shetland Wool Week event.

You can be a part of this global celebration of Shetland wool and traditions by joining the thousands of other knitters knitting this year's hat design. We have the official Wool Week color packs from Jameson's Shetland Spindrift in the Sea Anemone colorway. Each pack includes 6 colors- Cloud, Gentian, Lilac, Orchid, Pacific, and Port Wine. The hat pattern that directly supports the Shetland efforts can be purchased here.

Helen Robertson, textile artist, designer and knitting tutor, has been named as the official patron for 2026. Her design for this year's hat, the Birsie Beanny, is a bold and distinctive piece that reflects Helen’s story and creative spirit, bringing together inspiration from Shetland Wool Week with elements drawn from her own creative journey.

Knit a little bit of history

Y'all have been loving the Dream in Color Smooshy Cashmere, so we got some more! Smooshy Cashmere lives up to it's name with 70% Superwash merino, 20% Cashmere and 20% Nylon spun into a squishy 3-ply fingering weight yarn perfect for socks and accessories. With 400yds per 4oz skein, one will get you through most socks, hats, mitts, or cowls. Sarah has already used it twice, for the deliciously textured Velvet Hat and the Kujira Ikka reversible socks (currently on the needles). It would also be perfect for Prism Twist reversible hat, Starshower cowl, Podcaster Gloves, or One and Done shawl.

We also got a little more Madeline Tosh Vintage. Vintage is a 100% superwash merino 4-ply worsted weight yarn with 200 yards per 4oz. What we love about vintage is the creative colorways with speckles and varigates that are so much fun to work with. Patterns that work great even with the wildest of colorways are Field of Wildflowers (hat), Whizbees Beanie, Anemone HatsBeloved (bonnet) Baby Vertebrae, Super Easy Baby BlanketHipster Shawl, Great Divide Shawl, and of course the Comfort Fade Cardi, of which Sarah has made 2, both from Tosh Vintage!

For the month of May it is clear skies ahead for Emma's Crazy Beautiful Color Club! This beautiful variagated blue is perfect for the last full month of Spring bringing the hope for cool sunny days before we head into the opressive heat of summer.

As usual, the color plays well with a huge variety of coordinating colors! Pictured here (top to bottom) with In Sheep's Clothing, Sky High, Trendy AF, Cactus Flower, Wonderland, and Freshly Cut.

Events at ReBelle

For those needing a project for the warmer months, we are doing a Sweet Summer Top Knit/Crochet along for the month of May. As in past years, each person will pick their own pattern to make and we will all work on them together learning about different yarns and construction styles as we go. Robyn created a Ravelry bundle with several pattern ideas for both knit and crochet if you need some help finding the perfect pattern. We are also available in the shop if you need help finding a pattern for a particular yarn.

All ReBelle knit/crochet alongs are free and open to the public and you can attend as many or as few sessions as you like.

Knit or Crochet Everyday in May

May is Mental Health Awareness month so we are once again issuing a challenge for customers to knit or crochet everyday in May. As little as a couple of stitches or as much as a few hours, the goal is to create a habit that is good for your mental health. At the end of the month, submit your physical or digital tracker to us and we will be doing a drawing on June 7 for a $50 ReBelle gift card. This year, completed trackers will get two entries and incomplete trackers will receive one entry.

Trackers are available in the shop or if you want a digital version to keep on your phone or print yourself, you can download the pdf here.

Kentucky Sheep and Fiber Fest

Since its inception, the Kentucky Sheep and Fiber Festival has been our favorite thing about May. This year the fest will be May 16 & 17 at Masterson Station park. There will be over 50 vendors with everything from yarn and fiber to pottery to soaps and sundries. There are lots of great classes and workshops, demos, food, and competitions for spinners, knitters, crocheters, and needle felters. This is your chance to explore a wonderful selection of fibers and meet fellow enthusiasts who share your passion. ReBelle will have a booth in our usual spot so stop by and say hello.  If you swing by the ReBelle booth we will have some special surprises exclusively for the event and as usual, ReBelle will be open regular hours during the festival. We can’t wait to see you there!

Doodle Knits

This class will show you how to use the Doodle Knit Patterns  by Jamie Lomax of Pacific Knit Co. Everything about this class will be customizable. You will start by choosing a base pattern from the Doodle Knits book, deck, or the patterns available individually on Ravelry. You will then select from the individual motifs or motif collections (also available in the book, in the decks, or on Ravelry) and mix and match them to create your perfect garment. There are lots of options including cowls, scarves, hats, stockings, mittens, a headband, or a coffee cup cozy. In this class, we’ll learn how to plug in her fun little motifs, a little color theory, and how to use her designs with other patterns. This class is an excellent introduction to stranded colorwork, but will also be a fun adventure for more advanced knitters.

Stop, Drop, and Pop Shawl

Wondering what to do with that gorgeous assigned pooling skein you just picked up from your latest yarn store or fiber festival adventure? Raellyn has a beautiful crocheted shawl class for you that will show off that pretty new yarn, and it only uses one skein to create a lovely shallow triangular shawl that you’ll want to wear all the time.

This is an easy, repetitive, no counting rows pattern that's perfect for travel, socializing,  or picking up and putting down again. It works up really quickly and is fun to watch where the pops of color are showing up in the pattern.

You’ll leave this class with both new skills and a renewed appreciation to what goes into making all that beautiful yarn that you love.

We’ll provide the wool, wool cards, and spindles to use in class. This is an absolute beginner class so no prior skills or experience are needed.
