Dear friends of dance,
Yesterday at City Hall, Mayor Eric Adams proclaimed Saturday May 20th as Dance Parade Day! We are honored to present living legends of dance, Ronald K. Brown, Elizabeth Streb and Natasha Diggs who will cut the ribbon at 11:45am at 6th Avenue & 17th Street.
Over 10,000 dancers from 131 organizations will present 100 unique styles of dance followed by DanceFest 3-7pm in Tompkins Square Park, making this special day the nation's biggest dance event.
Rain is forecast but it will be only light rain and we will dance nonetheless! We are dancers. We are strong. We are flexible. We come from different countries and backgrounds. And we are all united in dance! Thank you to everyone who has helped make this historic day possible.
Lets dance New York!
