Dear friends and neighbors:

I posted this on social media, but I dont think I have previously emailed.  But I hope you can join me tomorrow night (Wednesday) for two back-to-back exciting community meetings to discuss the historic restoration of both Court Street and the Castle Point terrace yellow bricks.  What we are calling the "Cobbles and Bricks" project.  Both meetings will be held at City Hall in council chambers:
  • Castle Point will be from 6-730
  • Court Street will be from 730-9
At each meeting two design alternatives will be presented for your consideration.  The next step will then be review by the Hoboken Historic Preservation Commission on December 3rd.  You can learn more about both projects from the City's website
I advocated for these restorations to be in this year’s budget and have been working with our new amazing city engineer Kimberli Craft, our consultant ENGenuity, and Councilwoman Jennifer Giattino and Councilman Mike DeFusco on both.  We are hoping to have an application for these projects submitted to Hudson County to be considered for their open space and historic restoration grants that they award annually to help fund the costs.  We met with representatives of the County earlier in the year who said that these projects, if close to shovel ready, would be ideal candidates.  Both of these projects are needed - as the streets are increasingly in a state of disrepair.  And the benefits will extend beyond this as we restore importnat parts of Hoboken's history.
So I hope you can come tomorrow night!  As always, if you have any further questions or want to discuss this or anything else, please feel free to call me at 201/208-1674 or email me at hoboken2nd@gmail.com.
