LAST FRIDAY WAS A BIG RELEASE DAY!
Can you believe it, Ty Segall, Rik & The Pigs, Dan Penn, Big Star, No Age, Brian Eno, and the great HEAVY METAL lps all came into the shop the same day! A glorious selection from the sublime to the ridiculous, the only way we would want it! Hopefully we will be able to keep these in stock but some of the labels these days have a hard time keeping items in print. Anyway, lots to let you know about, watch

TY SEGALL AND FREEDOM'S BAND - Freedom's Goblin (Drag City) - more rockist blam from Ty... includes a track recorded in Memphis at Royal Studios... Ty channeling some Southernly facing rock!
MUDHONEY Lie lp (Sub Pop) - First official live Mudhoney record... these guys are nuts live. Still! Who doesn't love Mudhoney? They rule!
RIK & THE PIGS Child's Gator lp (Total Punk) - more from the most Rik & The Pigsiest band in the land! Olympia, it's the water?
DAN PENN - Do Right Man lp (Sire) - Legendary Memphis songwriter singing some of his best!
HIGH RISE - II lp (Black Editions) Legendary Japanese biker rock blowout, deluxe reissue!
BRIAN ENO - Here Come The Warm Jets, Taking Tiger Mountain (By Strategy), Another Green World lp (Astralwerks) - classic, essential first solo albums from Eno after leaving Roxy Music. Where prog meets the punks... in the lavoratory / laboratory!
HEAVY METAL - III lp (Harbinger Sound) - Wiseguy Germans' third opus... in the same vein as Country Teasers... these guys do not give a fuck! Some choice covers, some great originals... for fans of Zip Code Rapists, Country Teasers, and Foreignhat.
KHAN JAMAL - Drum Dance To The Motherland lp (Eremite) Legendary underground soul/jazz/tribal psych classic reissued in limited supply.
BIG STAR Live At Lafayette's lp /
Live in New York lp - two documents from Memphis faves... the Lafayette's show is at the Rock Critics convention show (with Metal Mike Saunders and Meltzer goofin' around somewheres)- a legendary show! - and the Live in New York is from a radio show, previously issued on Rykodisc.
HOT SNAKES Suicide Invoice lp , Automatic Midnight, Audit In Progress lp (Sub Pop) - Reissues of these essential rockin HOT SNAKES albums!
CAVEMEN - Band in BC 7" (Weirdly) best NZ-London primitive garagers going!
B-MUSIC OF JEAN ROLLIN 1968-73 lp (Finders Keepers) - Anyone who knows Jean Rollin movies - full of atmospheric lesbianic vampiric themes- can attest to the strangeness of the whole scene, from concept to image and down to music. The geniuses at Finders Keepers are unsurpassed at putting these kindsa things together.
FUTURIANS - Distorted Living lp (Feeding Tube) - more New Zealand weirdos cranking out Sci-fi punk for years, here's (I thnk) a comp of their best blasts. Enjoyable, stupid, fantastic.
LES FILLES DE ILLIGHADAD- Eghass Malan lp (Sahel Sounds) - all-female Tuareg guitar band, great drone stuff with fantastic singing... one of my favorite things in a while.
HEAVY LIDS - Final Days lp (Blak Skul) - new album from New Orleans blasted keyboard/punks, with John Henry and Heather and Benny Divine on drums! Always a favorite!
NO AGE - Snares Like A Haircut lp (Sub Pop) New album from an LA band I've never listened to. Am I missing out? Let me know!
X RAY SPEX - Germ-Free Adolescents lp (Real Gone) - Favorite first gen punks, already fearlessly throwing sax into the mix, not from a pubrock /R&B side but because it's obnoxious and PUNK! I LOVE POLY STYRENE! Get this record.
PARSNIP - Health 7" ep (Anti-Fade) - Jangly ep from all-Aussie girl band with Goner (and everyone's) fave Casserole Hawkins (School Damage, Chook Race) hiding in their midst!
SLOP & MASH Vol 1, 2, 3 lp - Early Rocksteady, ska, reggae comps... pre-hippie fratkid trustadreadlockian crap.
