Katie's Korner...
Dear Summer Sing,

What beautiful weather! I hope you are all finding an opportunity to get outside and breathe the sweet air and enjoy this incredible place where we live. Julia (our pianist) and I went for a walk together recently and looking at the lake with her reminded me how lucky we are to live where we do! When I walk on my own, I'm often listening to a podcast or talking on the phone with my sister or trying not to get annoyed at my dogs for doing the things that dogs do on walks. I need to just look up and around more!

Heading into our last rehearsal before the concert, please take a little time to review our music. Singing through J'entends le Moulin a couple of times with the recording would especially help - we've spent so much time working on the bits and pieces of that song that it has been hard to get a feeling of the song as a whole.

If you are coming to our last rehearsal but are not able to attend the concert, remember to return your folder to Ed at the end of the rehearsal!

Have a wonderful week! See you Wednesday!

All the best,
Katie

Rehearsal Schedule...
Rehearsals begin at 7:00 PM sharp.  Please try to be in your seat and ready to sing!

July 24, 31

Returning Your Music Folders...
After the concert, we will be collecting the music folders for all of the Summer Sing Music.  There will be a rolling blue bin in the dining room to the side of where we will be standing to perform.  If you cannot attend the concert, please turn in your music at this week's rehearsal.

This is the blue bin

Family and Friends Concert...
Our last rehearsal on July 31st will be our free Family and Friends Concert followed by a “Snacks to Pass” reception.  It will be a chance for you and our guests to eat, mingle, chat.  So…it will take a group effort to make this happen.

We will hold the concert in our rehearsal room and not in the Sanctuary.  The Sanctuary temperature is in the mid to high 80's and there is little chance that condition will improve.

We will hold the reception in the rear of the dining room and to the right as you enter the room.

Here are the tasks for the party - works best if several people work together:
  • Set up for the concert
  • Organize food that members bring in on the tables
  • Cleanup at the end of the event
Set-Up - we need 6-10 people to come in early (6:00 PM) to set up chairs and tables.  Opus will move the pianos for us.  Once the concert is over, we will need to pick up all the chairs and tables and return everything to the place we found them.

About the food - think munchies, snacks, finger foods, non-alcoholic drinks, treats and dessert type items.  If it is something that needs to be refrigerated during the concert, we do have access to limited space in refrigerator in the church kitchen (not a lot of space). It is best if the food can be picked up with a utensil (provided by you) and not your fingers.  We do not have access to any eat or serving utensils in the church pantry, so please provide your own. Please make a label with food ingredients if you are preparing a dish so that anyone with a food allergy does not have a problem.

Cleanup -  We wish to keep the waste as close to zero as possible.  We ask that you take your leftover food, dishes and utensils home with you.  Perhaps, some may wish to bring some take-home containers for the leftovers.  Think recycle!

Bring a Pencil to LIGHTLY Mark Your Scores!

Nonconsensual Olfactory Overload..

Please remember to avoid wearing perfumes, colognes, essential oils and other scents to rehearsals and performances as they create respiratory discomfort for some of our singers.  Please do shower, however 😁
Voice Exercises and Warmups...
Looking for a way to exercise your voice between rehearsals? Cyberbass is free website that has a selection of vocal warmups that play on your computer, smartphone or tablet. You can also purchase CD's with various exercises and warmups if you choose.  Go to
