The TSE All-Share Index dropped 0.48% on the last day of the trading week to close at 96,287. Automotive (-3.32%) was the weakest sector of the day and the most traded, with volume of IRR 209 billion (approx. USD 4.9 million). Utility Service Providers (+2.25%) was the biggest riser with gains across the board. Stocks making the biggest impact on the All-Share Index were Kharg Petrochemical Co. (PKHA -5.87%), Mobile Telecommunication Company of Iran (HMRZ +1.57%) and Persian Gulf Petrochemical industries Co. (PKLJ -0.78%). The most traded stock by value was Chadormalu Mining and Industrial Co. (CHML +1.66%), with IRR 66 billion (approx. USD 1.5 million) of trades. Total market traded value reached IRR 2,073 billon (approx. USD 49 million), up 24.1% from yesterday.
TSE30 Index
The TSE30 index of the thirty largest companies by market capitalization slipped 0.40% to close at 4,307. Fajr Petrochemical Co. (BFJR +3.10%) was the top performer on the index, while Kharg Petrochemical Co. (PKHA -5.87%) lost the most. Total trading volume fell 14% to IRR 574 billion (approx. USD 13.6 million).
Highlight
The Iranian government has moved to unify foreign exchange rates. The decision was made on Monday during an emergency meeting called by President Hassan Rouhani. According to First Vice President Eshaq Jahangiri, the rate of the dollar would be set at 42,000 rials on both official and free markets.
